Job Description

SUMMARY:



To support the Head of Engineering & Maintenance in managing the maintenance team by providing guidance, instruction, direction and leadership to the team. The purpose is for achieving a safe working environment & optimal equipment technical availability whilst working within the agreed budget.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



1. Equipment Failures & efficiency



??Carry out effective, efficient fault finding and problem resolution to root cause where possible on a wide range of complex systems in a continuous process environment so that they maintain the plant to deliver the target operating efficiencies. Also to appraise, lead, motivate, coach and develop the maintenance team in accordance with the values so that they maintain the plant to deliver the target operating efficiencies.

2. Budget Control



To ensure all financial control procedures are adhered to so that the Engineering Team has an accurate and up to date picture of current spend vs budget

3. ?Continuous Improvement



Support the CI Framework, applying CI techniques and investigating new technologies in predictive and preventative maintenance, continually improve the performance of the maintenance team in in line with the strategic plan in order to attain world class maintenance standards.

4. ?Physical Infrastructure



Support the Engineering Manager in keeping the Site, buildings and fabric, physical infrastructure and Manufacturing and Assembly assets and equipment, in a well maintained and safe condition.

?5. Preventive Maintenance



Design and review the preventive maintenance program.

6. ?Resource Management & Utilisation



Effectively manage and utilise the day team (7 technicians) and shift technicians (1 per shift, total 4 persons) who report directly to you directly. Ensure optimal deployment of manpower for maintenance tasks and operational support. Undertake any assignments delegated by the Engineering Manager.

7. Technical & Maintenance Responsibilities



Troubleshoot and resolve machinery and process-related issues. Identify and implement machinery/process improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency. Develop, review, and improve preventive maintenance programs for all machinery. Establish and maintain Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures to ensure equipment safety. Monitor and manage spare parts inventory to ensure availability and accuracy. Ensure timely closure of work orders, with complete and useful information entered into the SAP system. Liaise with staff regarding defects, improvements, and preventive/corrective maintenance tasks. Liaise with suppliers, contractors, consultants, and authorities for sourcing, evaluation, and job execution. Assume the role of E&I Maintenance Engineer during their absence. Respond to emergency breakdowns during stand-by or extended hours as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

8. People Management & Development



Plan and manage staff schedules, including rosters, shifts, stand-by duties, leave (annual, emergency, etc.), and rest days. Assign tasks to team members based on priority, skillset, and workload. Provide on-the-job training and technical guidance to ensure tasks are completed effectively and with quality. Support staff development through continuous coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing. Ensure all staff and contractors comply with safety policies, procedures, and regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:



Should possess a degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Electrical Engineering with minimum 5 years of working experience in related field is required. Candidate with a Diploma in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Electrical Engineering from a reputable institution with 8 years of working experience will be considered. Fluent in English, both spoken and written. Strong people management and communication skills. Skilled in troubleshootingand resolving machinery/process issues (e.g., pumps, gears, piping, valves, conveyors). Hands-on experience in maintenance work. Knowledgeable in Health & Safety procedures and relevant legislation (e.g., NIOSH, DOSH, DOE). Proven track record in Continuous Improvement and Change Management, with the ability to coach others. Flexible and willing to take on additional tasks within capability and competence.

Pay: RM6,000.00 - RM8,000.00 per month
