About the role
We are looking for talented Lead Simulation Engineer - Performance to join our RDD Technology Development team, to support the development of our new Floorcare and Environment Care products.
Working as part of a small team you will be responsible for the product performance analysis. You will be working alongside the design and functional teams to create new ways to measure and predict key performance parameters; and ensure that our technologies are up to meeting their ambitious targets. You will use a mixture of simulation, test and engineering judgement to solve the problems that arise as we develop our technologies and products. You will work alongside your UK counterparts to pick projects up from an early design stage and take them through to production.
Hold responsibility for technical discipline for assigned project
Completion of complex simulations / analyse or experimental validation to support development of allocated projects. New processes & methodologies will often have been developed & formulated
Ability to highlight, manage & provide options / solutions to technical risks within projects, often delving more deeply into integrated, interwoven system risks. Proficient in FMEA techniques & more often beginning to take a leading role in the sessions
Constantly questioning existing methods, practices & techniques with a view to continually improving the capabilities of the team. Expected to drive these improvements engaging with stakeholders where appropriate
Work closely with various department across site (UK, MY & SG); with the opportunity to travel aboard for project & knowledge transfer
About you
Requirement:
University Degree or Master in Mechanical Engineering (other relevant discipline will be considered)
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of simulation, numerical analysis, and modelling. (Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Multiphysics, Particle Science & Acoustics)
In-depth user of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation tools (ANSYS, Fluent, CFX, etc.)
In-depth user of modelling tools (Matlab, Simulink & Simscape, etc.)
In-depth experience of experimental methodology & analysis techniques
Performance & Personal Competencies:
Ability to gather information & problem solve with a systematic, logical approach. This will often be for issues with no pre-precedent. Expected to be able to resolve problems effectively while managing stakeholders\' expectations. May take a leading role in discipline or cross-functional team during such resolution.
With little guidance from management and be able to put together expansive project plans to deliver expected work for any given project or projects; Will be required to be multi-tasking on several different aspects of the project at any given time, acting on shifting priorities & delivering work accordingly.
Accept & assess multiple opinions/viewpoints independently, recognizing evidence & able to determine technical direction in specialist areas.
Strong written & verbal communication skills. Ability to clearly, concisely & confidently present & articulate ideas to larger cross-category groups from a variety of areas, often with Management attendees. Proficient in clear, concise communication of ideas & concepts, frequently tailoring communication to suit different levels. Developed ability to persuade & influence others when appropriate, typically within a project team.
Remains willing to receive constructive feedback & coaching, responding in an appropriate & professional manner. Is happy to provide constructive feedback, technical oversight & coaching/mentorship to less experienced engineers in technical discipline.
Demonstrates advanced collaboration & co-operation skills, usually involving diverse stakeholders with similar goals usually with experience of dealing with more demanding customers.
Able to work independently on a wider variety of more complex tasks and/or demonstrate functional leadership without direct supervision.
Taking more of a leading role in positively contributing to team goals as well as defined individual & team initiatives (which may involve longer-term, individual initiatives or task co-ordination of team initiatives).
