Job Description

The candidate for this position must be someone who has experience in managing an urban farm, is passionate about the use of technology in sustainable urban farming and has postgraduate qualifications in an agricultural sciences or related fields. RESPONSIBILITIES Teaching & Learning Undertake teaching and teaching-related duties such as design, preparation and development of teaching materials conduct classes/lectures, tutorials and practicals consultation with students, invigilation, marking and assessment Participate and contribute to programme and curriculum development Plan and implement teaching strategies to optimize student learning as well as to motivate them Support research project work and scholarship of postgraduate students Establish and maintain high standards of teaching and effective learning to meet the University\'s teaching and learning expectations Research Participate in scholarly activities, including undertaking research, conference presentation, journal publications and relevant community work Support efforts to secure grants for research activities and scholarship as co-researcher Achieve the specified set of research outcome targets for a Lecturer levelappointment Administration and Other Activities Undertake and contribute in administrative/leadership responsibilities such as managing/coordinating a programme, attending departmental meetings, participate in committees and working groups within the school and faculty Participate in continuous relevant professional activities Assist in establishing linkages with external organizations/ professional bodies in academic related matters Coordinate teaching and learning, research and industry outreach initiatives under the Taylor\'s Urban Farm (TUF). This includes: Supporting the use of TUF for various learning activities including laboratory practicals, multidisciplinary learning experience, impact lab projects, final year research projects and internship Mediating collaborations and engagements between potential Agritech industry partners and TUF Facilitating technology adoptions and practices between Agritech industry partners and related stakeholders locally and internationally REQUIREMENTS Possess a Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy degree in Science preferably in Agriculture Technology/Sustainable Urban Farming/Modern Farming/ Precision Agriculture or related field Experience in managing and operating a smart farm/ urban farm utilizing technology and modern farming techniques Passionate in smart farming/ urban farm and able to inspire students in farming Some experience working in a higher education environment and a track record of teaching experience and professional knowledge of curriculum development or good record of professional experience with evidence of coaching and mentoring and a high quality of presentation skills Experience in developing teaching methodologies and materials, including the effective use of IT technologies in the facilitation of teaching and learning Experience working on research projects and activities or experience of professional practice/consultancy work, including evidence of appropriate outputs Demonstrated links to relevant external organizations and/or the profession
