The Chemistry Lecturer is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning at the undergraduate level. The role involves providing students with a solid foundation in core and advanced chemistry concepts--spanning physical, organic, inorganic, and analytical chemistry--to support their academic progression throughout their degree programme. The lecturer will design curriculum materials, conduct assessments, and contribute to academic excellence through continuous improvement, student engagement, and scholarly activities.
Key Responsibilities :
Teaching & Learning
Deliver lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and workshops across various chemistry disciplines.
Develop comprehensive lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessments aligned with programme learning outcomes and university academic standards.
Foster an engaging and inclusive learning environment that promotes critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and active participation.
Assess students through assignments, laboratory reports, quizzes, examinations, and other evaluation tools.
Integrate digital learning tools, laboratory technologies, and blended learning approaches to enhance the teaching experience.
Curriculum & Academic Development
Participate in the development, review, and continuous improvement of chemistry modules.
Ensure course content is up-to-date and reflects current scientific advancements and industry relevance.
Support interdisciplinary initiatives and collaborative teaching efforts within the faculty.
Contribute to accreditation exercises, quality assurance processes, and academic audits.
Student Support & Mentorship
Provide academic advising, consultation hours, and guidance to students.
Create a supportive and motivating environment that encourages academic success and personal growth.
Assist students in developing strong laboratory skills, scientific reasoning, data interpretation, and communication abilities.
Research & Professional Contribution
Engage in research, scholarly activities, or professional development to remain current in chemistry and related fields.
Participate in departmental projects, seminars, conferences, and collaborative academic initiatives.
Attend faculty meetings, training sessions, and university events as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Master's Degree in Chemistry or a related field (PhD strongly preferred).
Minimum 2-3 years of teaching experience at the university, foundation, or diploma level.
Experience teaching multiple chemistry disciplines is an added advantage.
Research, laboratory, or industry experience in any chemistry-related area is preferred.
