They are looking to hire a Legal Counsel to work with global business teams based at overseas.Job DetailsJob Title:Legal Counsel (Global Company / Mandarin)Position Level:In HouseSpecialization:Corporate / M&A / Commercial,Telecommunications / TechnologyEmployment Type:Full Time/PermanentLocation:Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIAWorking Experience:6 - 8 Year(s)Education Level:Professional QualificationExpiry Date:18/09/2024Responsibilities1.Provide primary legal support and advice to the international global payment team on a wide variety of cross-border legal and regulatory matters, including drafting, negotiating and reviewing contracts, conducting legal analysis on new product initiatives and advising on legal and regulatory developments in relation to payment.
2.Lead legal support on key global payment initiatives to build and empower our global digital platform to provide payment and related services to our partners across numerous jurisdictions.
3.Working closely with compliance, AML & sanctions, privacy, IP and litigation teams to ensure regulatory risks are properly managed.
4.Working closely with other internal stakeholders from other jurisdictions and multiple disciplines, including finance, foreign exchange, tax, risk, funds and operations.
5.Supporting the internal review and approval processes for new strategic initiatives.
6.Managing legal policies and procedures for the payment business.
7.Managing external legal counsel as needed in an effective and efficient manner.
8.Escalating issues, as appropriate, and partnering collaboratively with other team members to support the Group.Requirements1.Bachelor or above degree in law.
2.A minimum working experience of 6-8 years PQE.
3.Must have substantial experience in financial services in the region.
4.Preferred: common law legal qualification with top-tiered international law firm training and substantial inhouse experience in financial regulatory businesses; proficient in Mandarin (both spoken and written).
5.Strong regulatory/compliance knowledge and skills, especially in relation to payment regulations in Asia (knowledge in payment regulations in the EU and the US is a plus).
6.Excellent technical, drafting, negotiation and analytical skills together with practical commercial acumen.
7.Must be a team-player, highly motivated self-starter and eager learner with excellent project management skills.
8.Demonstrable advocacy and oral and written communication skills, including the ability to influence different business functions.
9.Excellent people management skills.
10.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines and to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
