Responsibilities
  • Providing legal support on a broad range of matters to various business units, support units and other enablers in the Group\xe2\x80\x99s business comprising institutional and retail brokerage, equities research, leveraged products (e.g. contracts for difference, futures, foreign exchange), prime services, asset management, wealth solutions and associated securities businesses across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, South Korea, India, Mauritius, United Kingdom and the United States of America
  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating legal documentation for the Group\xe2\x80\x99s business which include, without limitation: (a) NDAs; (b) joint venture or cooperation agreements with prime brokers / other relevant business partners; (c) vendor agreements (IT licences, procurement of services etc.); (d) tenancy agreements; (e) underwriting/placement agreements; (f) research / securities distribution agreements; (g) ISDA and GMSLA documents; (h) service level agreements; (i) margin financing documents; (j) securities borrowing and lending documents
  • Providing legal and practical/ solutions-oriented advice on a wide variety of matters including ensuring compliance with laws and regulations applicable to the Group\xe2\x80\x99s business in the various jurisdictions
  • Providing legal support on product/ service development initiatives
  • Providing advice and assistance from legal perspective in addressing customer complaints
  • Handling the management of disputes, claims and litigation (if any) involving relevant entities in the Group in the various jurisdictions, together with external lawyers
Requisites of applicant
  • Bachelor of Laws
  • Admitted to the Malaysia Bar
  • Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in law firm(s) and/or in-house legal department(s) (with minimum of 2 years in a law firm)
  • Legal experience in any one of the following: capital markets, any products of stockbroking business, loan services, dispute resolution - will be advantageous
  • Good command of the English language (written and spoken)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Meticulous and excellent analytical and drafting skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively
  • Keen to learn and be exposed to new areas of law
