About the Role In line with policies/standards and under instructions/controls of management and senior counsel, to provide standard legal advice and counsel to management and staff worldwide on diverse legal issues of medium complexity covering day-to-day operations, legislative trends and changes in the law and assist more senior counsel with complex research/preparation of special reports/etc. in order to minimise legal exposure to risks.We\xe2\x80\x99re the world\xe2\x80\x99s leading provider of secure financial messaging services, headquartered in Belgium.   • To implement legal activities of low to medium complexity and give company-wide sound legal advice/counsels/ recommendations to support Swift activities and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • To support the roll-out of legal operations projects of medium to high complexity, and work with leadership to optimise and manage Swift Legal & Compliance team operations.
  • To undertake specific legal studies, review legal and regulatory documentation, investigate specific issues.
  • Stay current on best practices in legal operations and carry out analysis of existing processes and recommend best practices, identify opportunities for the Swift Legal & Compliance team to improve services to the company.
  • To draft /review contracts / or amendments to contracts worldwide for customers/suppliers/ development projects/ network/etc...
  • To perform regular update of the company contracts, customers, export control and legal vehicle management databases to provide management and staff with an efficient follow up management tool.
  • To analyse internal legal procedures and propose internal actions to be undertaken to maximise services.
  • To liaise with management and staff and with customers/suppliers/lawyers/public administrations/etc...
  • To own and optimise legal operations processes, including administrative support activities (filing documents, maintaining logical and physical file repositories, review accesses, etc.).
  • To undertake administrative tasks within the department and to be an effective back-up for colleagues.
  • To maintain/develop own understanding of evolutions in relevant areas of (i) the law including company laws, export regulation matters and other regulatory compliance matters to identify potential impact on Swift legal operations; and (ii) legal operations such as artificial intelligence, new technology tools and best practices.
  • Identify and evaluate the impact of risks, propose mitigations and controls, participate in risk assessments as part of the Legal & Compliance representation.
  • As appropriate, build training material and conduct training sessions for the business and peers on legal and regulatory matters.

We are looking for professionals with:EducationUniversity law degree or para-legal degree with 5-8 years professional experience in a law firm or legal departmentExperienceMinimum 5 years of experience in legal matters within an international environment, with at least 3 years of recent experience in Legal Operations matters or equivalent (business process improvement, operational excellence, etc.).
