Key Responsibilities Job Summary To be part of the library team, providing a wide range of resources to support both the academic and leisure needs of the College community in a professional and welcoming manner. These tasks represent the core of the Library Assistant role; however, as library services develop new responsibilities may be added.

  • Assisting in the efficient and effective delivery of library services, including day-to-day operations, library maintenance and resource processing
  • Assisting in library administration and all aspects of library circulation, whilst supporting the functions of the library issue/enquiry desk
  • Supporting the processing and cataloguing of new library resources and ensuring they are available to pupils and teachers promptly
  • Contributing to the development of the Library\xe2\x80\x99s presence on the College\xe2\x80\x99s website and digital infrastructure
  • Interacting with and assisting pupils, staff and parents in a professional, friendly and knowledgeable manner
  • Assisting in the promotion of the Library and its resources to both staff and pupils
  • Producing display materials, leaflets and online materials to promote the Library to the College
  • Participating and contributing as a team member to the development of library services through regular team meetings and through a commitment to continual professional development
  • Ensuring that the Library operates in accordance with College health and safety policies, reporting any issues to the Head Librarian
  • Supervising pupil use of library space
  • Aiding pupils in their use of library IT systems (computer, internet and printer troubleshooting)

Skills and Experience Essential
  • Demonstrates an enthusiasm for taking on a range of tasks and is willing to develop new skills to further the delivery of an outstanding library service
  • Flexibility in approach to role within a small team, to ensure that library services remain available to pupils throughout the school day
  • Ability to take on routine tasks with energy and enthusiasm, prioritise workloads and deal with complex queries in equal measure
  • Passionate about the delivery and development of library services, the process of knowledge building and literature of all kinds
  • Confident and cheerful approach to working with pupils
  • High level of competence using the Google suite of applications
  • Ability to work alone in a proactive manner
Desirable
  • Experience of working within an educational library
  • Experience of using library management systems
  • Experience of Google Education platforms and e-resources
Essential Requirements
  • Must possess at least a minimum Certificate/Diploma/Degree Certificate in any related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of working experience in administration.
  • Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, as well as excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess integrity, loyalty, caring, patience, and assertive and proactive behaviour.
  • Must have a flexible, positive approach to all aspects of the administration of activities, especially when there is a requirement to make rapid changes to plans in the event of force majeure.
  • Advanced user of Google Suites or equivalent (e.g Microsoft Office).
  • Willing to work in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, Malaysia.
