Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Local Chef to lead our restaurant concept and manage the day-to-day operations of our local Malaysian cuisine noodle bar. The ideal candidate should have a passion for local Malaysian cuisine and be able to create an exciting concept, lead the kitchen team, recruit and manage staff, and maintain positive relationships with suppliers. Key Responsibilities:
Develop and create a unique concept for the restaurant that reflects the local Malaysian cuisine, while also ensuring it aligns with the needs of the business and the local community.
Plan and design menus, taking into account the availability of local produce and ingredients, and ensure that they are attractive, tasty, and profitable.
Manage the kitchen operations including food preparation, cooking, and plating, ensuring high standards of food quality and hygiene.
Lead and train the kitchen team, and maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Oversee the front-of-house operations, including greeting guests, taking orders, serving food and drinks, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Develop and maintain relationships with local suppliers, ensuring the timely delivery of quality ingredients and supplies.
Manage inventory, food cost, and labor cost to ensure the profitability of the business.
Ensure compliance with all local health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Qualifications:
A degree or diploma in Culinary Arts or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong focus on local Malaysian cuisine.
Ability to lead and manage a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
In-depth knowledge of Malaysian cuisine, including ingredients, cooking techniques, and flavor combinations.
Knowledge of local suppliers and markets for sourcing quality ingredients.
Excellent customer service skills and a passion for creating a memorable dining experience.
