Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Local Chef to lead our restaurant concept and manage the day-to-day operations of our local Malaysian cuisine noodle bar. The ideal candidate should have a passion for local Malaysian cuisine and be able to create an exciting concept, lead the kitchen team, recruit and manage staff, and maintain positive relationships with suppliers. Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and create a unique concept for the restaurant that reflects the local Malaysian cuisine, while also ensuring it aligns with the needs of the business and the local community.
  • Plan and design menus, taking into account the availability of local produce and ingredients, and ensure that they are attractive, tasty, and profitable.
  • Manage the kitchen operations including food preparation, cooking, and plating, ensuring high standards of food quality and hygiene.
  • Lead and train the kitchen team, and maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Oversee the front-of-house operations, including greeting guests, taking orders, serving food and drinks, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local suppliers, ensuring the timely delivery of quality ingredients and supplies.
  • Manage inventory, food cost, and labor cost to ensure the profitability of the business.
  • Ensure compliance with all local health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Qualifications:
  • A degree or diploma in Culinary Arts or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong focus on local Malaysian cuisine.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Malaysian cuisine, including ingredients, cooking techniques, and flavor combinations.
  • Knowledge of local suppliers and markets for sourcing quality ingredients.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a passion for creating a memorable dining experience.
