Job Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all maintenance and repair works within the school campus to ensure a

safe, clean, and conducive learning environment

for students, staff, and visitors. The role involves supervising maintenance staff and contractors, implementing preventive maintenance programmes, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and supporting school operations with minimal disruption to teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities1. Campus Maintenance & Operations

Supervise daily maintenance activities across classrooms, laboratories, offices, sports facilities, hostels (if applicable), and common areas. Ensure all school facilities, equipment, and utilities are safe, functional, and well maintained. Respond promptly to maintenance requests, breakdowns, and emergency situations to minimise disruption to academic activities. Schedule maintenance works outside teaching hours where possible.
2. Preventive Maintenance

Implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for: Electrical systems Plumbing and sanitation HVAC and ventilation systems Fire protection systems Science laboratories and specialised rooms Conduct routine inspections to identify safety hazards and maintenance needs. Ensure timely rectification of defects identified during inspections.
3. Student Safety & Compliance

Ensure full compliance with safety, health, and fire regulations applicable to educational institutions. Conduct regular safety checks of classrooms, playgrounds, sports equipment, staircases, and laboratories. Support fire drills, emergency evacuations, and safety audits. Ensure all maintenance works adhere to child safety and safeguarding standards.
4. Supervision of Staff & Contractors

Supervise, schedule, and assign duties to maintenance staff. Monitor staff performance, attendance, and adherence to safety procedures. Coordinate and oversee external contractors and service providers. Ensure contractors comply with school policies, safety standards, and safeguarding requirements while on campus.
5. Inventory, Assets & Budget Control

Maintain inventory of maintenance tools, equipment, and spare parts. Monitor usage of materials and recommend cost-effective solutions. Assist Management in budget planning, cost control, and procurement related to maintenance works. Maintain asset registers for school facilities and equipment.
6. Reporting & Documentation

Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection records, and service reports. Prepare periodic reports on maintenance status, recurring issues, and improvement recommendations. Assist during inspections by authorities, accreditation bodies, and internal audits.
7. Event & Academic Support

Provide maintenance support for school events, examinations, sports days, and functions. Ensure classrooms and facilities are properly set up before academic sessions and events. Assist during school opening, closing, and peak operational periods.
8. General Duties

Be on standby for emergency call-outs when required. Perform other duties as assigned by School Management.
Qualifications & Experience

Diploma or Certificate in Building Maintenance, Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field. Minimum 3-5 years of relevant maintenance experience, preferably in a school or institutional setting. Supervisory experience is an advantage. Good understanding of building systems and safety requirements in educational environments.
