Role Responsibilities
Model Risk Framework & System is part of the broader Enterprise Risk Management organization within the Risk & Compliance Division. The function manages platforms that model risk platforms and its governance. The function supports the business in the use of the model risk platforms to manage their model portfolios and alignment to policy, standards and the model lifecycle. The Manager, Data Initiatives, Model Risk Framework and System, will support the team and colleagues in their role of managing and improving model risk platforms data requirements;

  • Data business analysis and solution definition
  • Data sourcing strategy, implementation and coordination
  • Data delivery, process maintenance and support
  • Ongoing review, tracking, testing and monitoring of the data pipeline
Strategy
  • Assess problem statements, business requirements & propose potential solutions in the domain of Model Risk Management
  • Research, design, implement and validate analytics and data visualization techniques to meet model risk reporting requirements
  • Work with partner teams to create and build next generation data products and analytics solutions
  • Contribute/lead development of prototype solutions coordinating with other teams as appropriate, demonstrate to users and gather feedback
  • Conduct thorough validation, testing and data quality checks to ensure accurate and value adding solutions being delivered
  • Project planning and execution to ensure requirements are met based on priorities
Business
  • Work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, across all seniority levels, to address urgent and strategic risk management needs
  • Coordinate with various teams such as IRB, IFRS9 and Stress Testing to establish how existing results/analytics or processes can be leveraged
  • Provide timely and high-quality responses to model risk platforms data queries and requests
  • Lead and provide Business Analysis across model risk platforms data solutions.
  • Undertake critical projects and ad-hoc model risk platforms requests as they arise
  • Prepare, lead and communicate meetings, working group and approvals to meet business requirements
  • Be able to clearly explain issues identified, along with the risk and causes to stakeholders, using language designed to be understood by non-experts
Processes
  • Understand the model risk business and data requirements, and appropriately update data requirement documentation
  • Understand the lifecycle of model risk and model development which drives the data transformations and data storage
  • Work with technology teams to source the required data into the model risk data store
  • Work with data visualisation team to deliver final data products e.g. dashboard and reports using data in the model risk data store
  • Prototype queries and logic using data from model risk data store to output reporting requirements on the visualisation tool
  • Overall project and delivery management of reporting requirements for model risk
  • Understand basic Basel capital rules for RWA and IFRS 9 ECL which are large model families
  • Work on BCBS 239 data lineage and data quality enhancements for model risk
  • Run BAU Python scripts monthly
  • Ad-hoc data activities to support first line teams.
  • Drive business enablement across model risk platforms - liaising with stakeholders, updating guidance material and communications for model risk platforms
  • Participate in relevant model platform activities and its user acceptance testing to ensure key features are appropriately implemented
  • Drive adherence to all internal and external regulations in model risk platforms solutions
  • Embed Operational Risk monitoring as an integral part of the business process
People & Talent
  • Engage with all model risk platforms data stakeholders for efficient communication and implementation of deliverables, and facilitate issue resolution
  • Build a transparent and collaborative culture in which incentives are based on support of model risk platforms data with specific performance metrics on the Bank\'s values.
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Work in collaboration with Team and other required stakeholders as deem fit.
  • Encourage and promote an active training and learning environment to facilitate excellence in risk management, risk awareness, behaviours and accountability.
Risk Management
  • Assist with ongoing improvements of model risk platforms and data
  • Assist with training and educating of the model risk platforms data and reporting
  • Monitor all model risk platforms data risk and issues. Where appropriate, direct remedial action and/or ensure escalation
Governance
  • Ensure the adherence to Group BCBS 239 standard when appropriate
  • Provide timely and high-quality responses to both internal and external queries and requests.
  • Embed the Group\xe2\x80\x99s values and code of conduct in the country fraud risk management team to ensure that adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations among employee\xe2\x80\x99s forms part of the culture.
  • Accountable for satisfactory closure of issues / gaps arising from Internal Audits, peer reviews and regulatory reviews for the areas of work.
  • Adherence to confidentiality agreement always.
  • Adherence to Group Policy and Code of conduct always.

Our Ideal Candidate Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree with technical degree preferred (statistics, mathematics, computer science, etc.)
  • Working experience in Model Risk Data/Information within banks and broad knowledge of model risk management, processes and associated risks and control requirements
  • Hands-on experience in data used for models development and best practices in data management
  • 8+ years of experience on risk management and credit risk regulation
  • Understanding of regulatory guidance and requirements around model risk management
  • Expert programming experience using SQL, Python, SAS and/or R
  • Expert in Data Analysis, Data Quality and requirements gathering
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent analytical, logical, reasoning and problem solving skills.
  • Advanced experience with SQL, Microsoft Excel, Reporting tools
  • Experience with collaboration software such as SharePoint, Confluence, Social Intranets
  • Experience leading, working and participating in Project environments - Waterfall and Agile
  • Documentation of deliverables, issues and agree resolution plans
  • Preparation and leading meeting with slides, minutes, and relevant papers
  • Microsoft Office including PowerPoint skills are essential
  • Ability to generate risk dashboard using data visualization tools i.e. Tableau
  • Engage senior stakeholders effectively and maintain productive working relationships
  • Expert in presenting difficult concepts in a clear and concise way
