Objectives of the Position

  • Effectively manage the project delivery of roll-out services to BASF group companies. Ensure that services are delivered in accordance with established processes and work procedures and in compliance with BASF policies and local company legal and statutory requirements.
  • Work with the respective delivery teams on potential projects to determine the scope of work and timeline, as well as budget for the project delivery.
  • Provide quality supervision, management and support for direct and indirect reports involved in the project to ensure all scope of delivery and reporting activities are executed accurately in a timely manner.
  • Manage project work of scope and resolving of issues via way of interaction with the necessary key stakeholders and the development of solutions.
  • To ensure all legal compliance is adhered to: this includes statutory, government and industrial relations matters.
  • To ensure the EHS, IP, compliance and CSR is maintained and that there are no legal implications to the organization.
Main Tasks

Project Delivery

Manage, supervise and support the shared services team with the regional functional team, as well as the local country platform team to ensure timely and accurately deliver the project scope to the BASF group companies in Asia Pacific or Project Sponsor in accordance with the service framework as well as global, regional and local country processes and guidelines while achieving a high customer satisfaction.
  • Undertake assigned projects, monitor project performance and staff performance and take corrective actions if necessary
  • Ensure that project queries are resolved in a timely, responsible and pro-active manner
  • Provide expert knowledge and support to colleagues and hands-on support when required
  • Work closely with other service streams and also the local country platform to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Support team members in resolving project issues related to implementation solutions including communication with project sponsors, and other project members.
  • Inform Senior Manager of Program Management on a timely basis about critical issues
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, develop solutions and drive their implementation to achieve operational excellence and cost efficiency.
  • Understand regional and country specific requirements for project delivery.
  • Review the existing processes, infrastructure, team setup, project reporting approach and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain and improve the knowledge database of projects implemented, analyze frequently occurring issues and seek for long term solutions to facilitate continuous learning, development and cross sharing of knowledge throughout the team
  • Develop solutions in consultation with the respective BASC service delivery team and the relevant regional functions and local country platform involved in project delivery
  • Ensure successful implementation across the team and in the involved companies
  • Cooperate with internal and external teams and work with these teams from other service streams to identify cross functional improvement opportunities
  • Support the implementation of other continuous improvement initiatives
Leadership and Team Management

Form a high-performing operational team by selecting the right individuals, fostering individual and professional development, creating an environment that is conducive to ideas and utilizes learning from experience and providing guidance as a compelling leader.
  • Lead the recruiting process for new hires in close coordination with the Senior Manager of Program Management
  • Create an efficient work environment and a high quality of work results by ensuring that roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and understood and knowledge is transferred properly within the team and to new team members
  • Set challenging goals, monitor the performance of the team and each individual team member, give regular feedback and provide coaching to improve performance if necessary
  • Provide feedback and reinforcement to team members regarding development needs and opportunities and secure resources to support development efforts
  • Encourage and facilitate open communication to ensure positive staff morale and establishment of a learning culture
  • Hold regular individual reviews to ensure that issues within the group and/or of an individual team member are recognized and resolved in a timely and orderly manner
  • Proactively manage staff motivation, morale and turnover by establishing good interpersonal relationships and make team members feel valued and appreciated
Compliance and Quality Management
  • Ensure that all activities of the project delivery team are in compliance with relevant policies, processes and procedures to achieve excellent and consistent quality of work results, avoid compliance issues and allow for traceability of actions.
  • Ensure that team members are aware of and strictly follow relevant policies, processes and procedures
Reporting
  • Manage an effective reporting approach to enable monitoring of the performance of the projects and provide information (where required) to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain monthly status report in cooperation with the relevant team that accurately reflects the performance of the projects being rolled-out.
  • Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the Demand Plan to enable SSC to predict the level of resource requirements for incoming project work, enhancements, and support activities.
Requirements
  • Tertiary education, preferably in business administration, Finance, IT, or related subjects
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years of project management experience with 2 years supervisory (project lead) experience
  • Demonstrated success in leading and managing a complex work group of about 5-15 people
  • Profound knowledge of SAP and its processes as well as experience in implementation is of advantage
  • Experience in managing operations of a shared service center and or global business services
  • Good analytical skills and project implementation experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), SCRUM Master or other similar professional qualification related to Project Management is of advantage
  • Good general and knowledge in similar function of managing a high performance team
  • Excellent communication and people management/development skills
  • Some knowledge ERP systems implementation methodology and supply chain process that are relevant for project implementation are of advantage
  • Functional knowledge and skills in using Microsoft applications, i.e. Words, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Knowledge of any other Asian language is of advantage
