Objectives of the Position


  • Steer and develop logistics service providers (liners) and maximize their value realized through close relationship and intensive collaboration
  • Optimize and monitor maritime carrier\xe2\x80\x99s relationships through performance & operational review meetings
  • Take care of service delivery management, service requests, structural and tactical escalation management
  • Define, monitor, analyze and rate service provider performance against target KPI\'s, PI\xe2\x80\x99s, and SLA\'s for Asia Pacific import / export operations
  • Safeguard logistics process knowledge and hence keep BASF in position to change providers
  • Ensure the link between LLP, LSP, 3PL(s) and BASF internal functions
  • Inbound & Outbound Shipping Management Support and Performance Steering
  • Intra-regional and inter-regional collaboration on maritime crisis management and shipping initiatives
  • Analyze and provide opportunities for improvement, optimization and effective management of liner operations, incl. structural improvements with business units/service provider
  • To work and establish performance management covering Service KPI, Cost & Quality for the different Service Providers used by the Import Export Operations in the countries
  • Support development of risk assessment as well as contingency plans, apply respective measures in collaboration with service providers

Main Tasks

  • Manage contracted global sea-freight agreements into operations system, processes and contract adherence
  • Support Global Procurement in annual liner tender of Asia Pacific
  • Support country import export, supply chain management and overseas delivery services on sharing of best practices on cost management, service scopes and performance
  • Ensure service changes within the tender period are promptly translated to operational level
  • Monitor utilization rate of contracted volume by country business units and adherence to contracted quota
  • Evaluate and manage maritime carriers service levels through key performance measurements, service provider relationships and operational reviews
  • Support efficient & effective crisis management / Incident communication including coordination of insurance claims and general average
  • Monitoring, reporting and root cause analysis of services; analyse misses and ensure preventive/corrective actions
  • Escalation point for countries\xe2\x80\x99 import/ export community for improvement and resolution in relation to freight carriers
  • Manage operational relationships with carriers to ensure understanding and adherence to BASF requirements and service level objectives, as well as facilitate issue resolution and drive improvements
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process and cost improvement
  • Involvement in intra-regional and inter-regional shipment management initiatives with global operational vendor management community
  • Continuous improvement of overall Import / Export management, carrier and service provider operations
  • Steer new development initiatives on maritime environment for proactive alternative or proposed solution to shipping challenge / advantage
  • All other tasks as assigned relevant to meeting BASF and the objectives as outlined above

Requirements

  • Degree in Business Administration or equivalent, supply chain management, logistics
  • Minimum 5-8 years in Logistics, Freight/carrier management, Supply Chain Management
  • Supply chain management / operational logistics knowledge,
  • SAP experience preferred, Business Intelligence Tools, import export operations, international trade, non-conformance management, good communication & collaboration skills
