Purpose Statement

  • This role is part of the Group's Operations Data Management (ODM) team. It must effectively and efficiently administer the global Material Master data processes and activities, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of all Material Master Data used in supply chain operations.
  • It will ensure alignment to the global (and multi-functional) create/modify/delete data management processes applicable in BAT's global systems by all data users, ensuring that any issues with data integrity or misalignment between systems are highlighted and resolved by the relevant owners in a timely manner within agreed SLAs.
  • This role must pro-actively handle the master data environment and apply effective housekeeping ensuring data accuracy and stability to support global plans and objectives.
Key Accountabilities

I. Operations/ Professional/ Business
  • Responsible for creation, amendment and deletion activities of all Material Master data within the ODM team.
  • Ensure that the Material Master data processes for creation, amendment and deletion are understood within own and any other regional or local Master Data teams in Global Operations departments, factories and end markets.
  • Update of Master Data documentation in line with any business changes to data management processes.
  • Implement to the Master Data Incident IT support process and ensure resolution within agreed SLAs.
  • Drive improved data integrity for both completeness and accuracy through weekly and monthly critical metric, Global Core compliance and data quality reports supervising.
  • Deliver master data accuracy and compliance with global data standards to the required and agreed accuracy rates as per SLA with data customers and users.
  • Ensure resolution of all global master data errors in a timely manner within the stated SLA timelines to minimise any adverse impact on planning and systems use.
  • As a master data knowledge guide, supply to global, regional and local MDM projects as required on behalf of the Global MDM Administration organisation.
II. Management
  • Cover for other Data Analysts where required.
III. Leadership
  • Coordinate with other DA's, SDAs and team leads to ensure the global master data team activities and priorities are met within required timelines, for BAU and the numerous global, regional and local projects involving master data where the global master data administration team need to be involved.
IV. Relationship
  • Build strong working relationships with global / regional / local data teams and partners, guiding them on data related issues and handling alignment to business standards and priorities
  • Work with other global/regional/local master data administration personnel as applicable to ensure accurate and timely system adjustment and updates to changed or new data standards.
Contextual Information

I. Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Knowledge
  • High degree of understanding of SAP Material Master Data and structures.
  • Good understanding of BAT's global supply chain processes desirable
  • Knowledge of cigarette products and materials an advantage
  • Knowledge and understanding of Master Data processes, governance and controls under the Target Operating Model (TOM) and TaO highly desirable
Skills
  • Highly numerate, analytical and accurate
  • Proven attention to detail and able to complete each task in hand (completer/finisher)
  • Good degree of IT or Supply Chain systems literacy
  • Good communication/social skills
  • Structured/planned approach to work

Experience
  • Working in a systems orientated supply chain environment
II. Key Success Factors
  • Master data process and governance activities are completed accurately and to agreed SLA timescales and quality.
  • All critical metric, global standards and data quality monitoring reports are issued and/or actioned to agreed frequencies.
Context
  • The requirement for a Global Master Data Management interpersonal structure was set out and built into the TOM / TaO to support BAT's move toward global ways of working, business management and a single global SAP instance.
  • This provides both opportunities and major challenges in moving Operations master data activities away from factory / end market (local) and shared service centre (regional) management and into a centralised, shared services model. This role is fundamental to the new global MDM organisation to ensure successful master data is delivered over the period of global TaO deployment and beyond.
  • Within the TOM model and single global SAP instance (TaO ECC), master data underpins and provides the foundation for everything we plan and complete via our systems, thus it impacts every department and project and is thus a major part of all of changes and initiatives.
The Global Data Analyst role will ensure that master data standards, processes and policies are understood and adhered to. The Data Management team, therefore, is a crucial and integral function within the TOM under Operations Development.

Internal:
  • Peers within the Data Management team, Global Operations functions plus Supply Chain Service Centres, factories and end market master data requestors and resources on a day to day working and project basis.
  • Global / Regional NPI Project Managers, PCE (Product Centre Europe) Product Developers, Global Data Stewards and contractors in all master data related activities
  • All in scope factories, commercial teams and end markets serviced via the global Master Data Administration team.
External:
  • TCS
  • Third Party Logistics Providers (DHL)
