WHERE YOU FIT IN

You will play a significant role in our Engineering Department\xe2\x80\x99s SMDS Portfolio Project Team where you will provide functional Operations Readiness Assurance delivery support and contribute to:

  • Delivering deep ORA & CSU expertise to add value to our projects;
  • Providing support to the ORA & CSU Principal Technical Experts in the identification and delivery of the functional improvement program: you will own specialist areas and be expected to maintain and/or develop the requisite tools and know-how;
  • Driving the global ORA & CSU Community of Practice by tracking movements, capability & competence and improving its effectiveness by promoting consistent application of ORA & CSU best practices across projects.
The project delivery scope will result in effective preparation and implementation of Operations Readiness & Assurance in general (i.e. Front-End Operations, Asset Owner Readiness (AOR), Commissioning & Start-Up (CSU), Handover, and Logistics) in all assigned front-end post DG3 projects. On behalf of the Asset Manager, the ORA Engineer will ensure that Production Readiness and Asset Owner Readiness, consolidated in the \xe2\x80\x98Production Promise\xe2\x80\x99, is achieved for each assigned project in line with the requirements of the Asset Management System. You will be expected to work according to a globally aligned set of standards and processes and to contribute to continuous improvement of these standards and processes, by identifying and implementing best practices and by maintaining and/or developing the corresponding tools. You will collaborate with the CSU Manager and his team to deliver the overall objective of OR & CSU of the projects.

You will be a member of our Engineering Department and will report to the SMDS Portfolio Project Manager.

THE ROLE

The Operation Readiness Assurance Engineer will provide functional support to SMDS projects to co-develop credible Production Promises at the DG3 and project sanction milestones. You will lead, coordinate and ensure, quality content of all Operations Readiness & Assurance input into project activities and deliverables and for all assigned projects and:
  • Understand, influence, and manage key interfaces with Development, Projects, Assets and forming natural teams.
  • Support Project in their efforts to deliver the annual OR & CSU improvement plan and maintain the OR & CSU project standards.
  • Lead the transitioning of projects from Construction to CSU to the Asset and managing the related P2A process as part of the project or asset organization.
  • Manage and integrate diverse skill pools (e.g. OR/CSU, Logistics, Production Operations, MRTA, Asset Management) to achieve the outcomes for each assigned project.
  • Build relationships & expectations of a wide stakeholder group comprising people from both Projects & Businesses and across multiple business locations, including interfacing with senior development managers as part of scope definition, to ensure bottom line value addition for Shell.
  • Assist in Peer Reviews and other Assurance events.
  • Support an organizational safety culture through visible personal commitment to Goal Zero.
  • Share best practices in global OR & CSU networks and support connectivity, capability & knowledge base of the OR & CSU community.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
  • Operations, Asset management and/or Project supervision (e.g. Commissioning) with a demonstrable 10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in the areas of interest for the job.
  • Deep experience in part of, or the entire, ORS Project life cycle (from front-end development, conceptual design through to final commissioning and handover).
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of relevant operations and project standards (e.g. Asset Management System, Project Management Framework & Project Standard 5).
  • Hands-on involvement in leading the successful implementation of Operations in Project Definition (Pre-DG3), CSU and AOR, as well as working experience in Production Operations organizations (Upstream and/or Downstream).
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering the successful Start-Up and Ramp-Up phase of at least one material or flagship project.
  • Experience in transitioning projects from Construction to CSU to the Asset and managing the related P2A process as part of the project or asset organization.
  • Previous exposure to supporting New Business Development opportunities from an operational point of view is desirable.
  • Existing skills in CSU scheduling (WFS), Operations Mode Assurance Reviews (OMAR) and/or leading PSUAs would be preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated senior individual with a proven track record in both delivery and impact.
  • Broad inter-personnel and relationship skills, with experience in collaboration and stakeholder management, building trust and working across boundaries with speed, simplicity and influencing outcomes without formal authority across organization and geographies, including non-operated ventures.
  • Change Management skills. Capability to take a program management role.
  • Customer facing and consultancy skills.
  • Whilst recognizing project objectives around Capex costs and Schedule and typical budget constraints, the incumbent will be capable of assertively influencing project teams to consider and include the necessary operational, maintenance, Opex, CSU, Quality and flawless start up requirements in the project scope as part of delivering future World Class Assets.
  • Strong aptitude for Learner Mindset
  • Experience in Shell\'s Safety Leadership journey and demonstration of passion for Goal Zero.
  • Demonstrated professional competence and managerial skills, and proven ability to influence change across an organization and geographies, including non-operated ventures.
  • External lens and connectivity: able to understand how Shell can influence the external world and how Shell is influenced by the external world.
  • Ability to engage and effectively communicate at all levels inside and outside Shell and within different cultural settings.
