Job Description

  • Team management: Oversee the pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support personnel. Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient operations and excellent customer service.
  • Customer service: Interact with customers, addressing their medication-related questions and concerns. Provide medication counseling and ensure that prescriptions are accurately filled and dispensed.
  • Prescription processing: Oversee the prescription filling process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to legal and regulatory requirements. Verify prescriptions, review medication profiles, and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Inventory management: Maintain appropriate levels of medications and supplies in the pharmacy. Monitor inventory, order medications from suppliers, and manage stock rotation and expiration dates.
  • Compliance and regulatory adherence: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards related to pharmacy operations. This includes proper recordkeeping, handling of controlled substances, and implementation of dispensing procedures for safety and legal compliance.
  • Workflow optimization: Streamline pharmacy operations to maximize efficiency and productivity. Develop and implement processes and protocols to minimize wait times, manage queues, and enhance the overall workflow.
  • Staff scheduling: Create work schedules for pharmacy staff, ensuring adequate coverage during business hours, weekends, and holidays. Optimize staffing levels to meet customer demand and maintain a smooth workflow.
  • Quality assurance: Implement quality control measures to ensure accurate dispensing, maintain medication safety, and prevent errors. Conduct periodic reviews and audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Marketing and sales: Collaborate with the pharmacy team to promote and market products and services. Develop strategies to increase prescription volume, enhance customer loyalty, and meet sales targets.
  • Ongoing education: Stay updated on industry developments, new medications, and healthcare trends. Provide ongoing education and training to the pharmacy team to enhance their knowledge and skills.
As a Pharmacy Manager in a retail setting, your primary focus is on managing the operations of the pharmacy, providing excellent customer service, ensuring compliance with regulations, optimizing workflow, and driving the success of the business. Qualification :
  • Education: should have a degree in pharmacy, either a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) from a recognized college or university.
  • License: You must hold a valid pharmacy license to work as a pharmacist and be eligible for a managerial position.
  • Experience: have some experience working as a pharmacist, especially in a retail pharmacy or a similar setting.
  • Managerial Skills: includes the ability to manage a team, make decisions, solve problems, and communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge: have a strong understanding of pharmacy practices, including medications, dosage forms, drug interactions, and counseling patients.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills are necessary for interacting with customers, healthcare professionals, and your pharmacy team.
  • Attention to Detail: Paying close attention to detail is crucial to ensure accurate prescription filling, proper inventory management, and compliance with regulations and safety protocols.
