Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group's Industrial Division is partnered with a global mining MNC that supplies various natural resources within the region. Located in Perak, our esteemed client is looking for an experienced procurement manager with knowledge in end-to-end supply chain and inbound logistics to manage the Malaysia operation and regional offices.
In brief, the candidate will be responsible for purchase of service, goods, and equipment for the region with focus on process optimization, increase service level to the operations and reduce cost. In charge of warehouse & waste management in Malaysia with focus on process automation, inventory management, transport and logistics, warehouse operation, scrap sales and waste management to attend all the company needs, with the best possible total price, according to defined standards of quality and lead time.
Key job responsibilities include:
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Propose purchasing strategies to all relevant acquisitions of goods, equipment and services, evaluating total price of ownership, manufacturer lead times, logistics, delivery times, sources of supply in order to avoid any future problems and to guarantee that all demands will be followed
  • Develop demand planning analysis of goods and services together with user areas, for both OPEX and investment, providing all necessary information regarding market, suppliers, consumption, etc. and plan purchasing processes to achieve their requests
  • Develop and evaluate all procurement, warehouse, scrap sales and waste management planning, scheduling and control activities related to company's strategies and schedules to implement its activities
  • Propose activities related to strategy, roles and responsibilities, warehouse, inventory management, scrap sales, waste management and negotiation change management to develop competitive suppliers/customers that will be able to supply company's demands of goods, equipment, services and items disposal
  • Evaluate supplier/customer market to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of supply and guarantee continuous improvement in current suppliers/customers
  • Ensure that price negotiation is always in line or below the market price for spot purchases, contracts and contract renewals or replacement of new suppliers, as well as scrap or unused item sales (in this case, in line or above market price)
  • Ensure that goods and services contracts will be followed up to correct any discrepancy and they will be available whenever necessary
  • Support and control management and inventory planning activities in your locality
  • Responsible of monitoring high number and/or value of spot purchases and propose consolidation strategies and categories to reduce spot purchases
  • Ensure knowledge of procurement, warehouse, and waste management teams in the activities that support company's processes, to conduct projects and systems improvements
  • Implement continuously best practices and processes improvements to maximize the availability and performance with cost optimization.
  • Identify opportunities and develop projects that add value to company's processes, aligned to guidelines and business area strategy, in compliance with time, cost, scope and quality of services.
  • Guarantee that regularly stocktaking processes are being done to guarantee that quantities in stock are according to SAP registers (materials and scrap and unused item.
  • Check optimization of inventories process, together with requisitioner areas (e.g. Maintenance) to minimize capital assets through continuous inventory reduction and planning needs of the requisitioner areas, in order not to compromise its operational performance.
  • Ensure that minimum and maximum inventory levels of stockable materials are set properly, according to company's requirements
  • Ensure minimum inventory levels of scrap and unused item, according to company's requirements
  • Manage operational KPI's in order to increase level of service for our operations
  • Manage outsourcing contracts under your responsibility
  • Evaluate monthly KPI reports for data analysing and process improvement
  • Guarantee that all processes comply with company's Norms and Procedures
  • Provide coaching, support and map development opportunities for the procurement analysts and supervisors in the region.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and manage Area budget and head count in order to comply with what is planned.
  • Represents company in internal and external meetings with suppliers, associations, government entities, embassies and any other public and private entities.
  • Participate in any required travel in order to know suppliers' processes, seminars, courses or any other relevant visit to Procurement and inbound logistic processes.
Key job requirements include:
  • Candidate must possess at least Bachelor's Degree/Professional Degree/Master Degree in relevant field with at least 10 years of relevant working experience.
  • Must be able to locate or relocate to Perak.
  • Must be able to operate the following Microsoft tools (PowerBi, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SAP MM
  • Candidate must possess analytical thinking, problem solving and sound decision making to ensure smooth operations.
  • Proven leadership skills in managing a multicultural team from various neighbouring countries and leading to meet departmental goals.
  • Excellent communication skills and able to foster and retain relationship with various stakeholders including suppliers, teams, departments, and counterparts.
  • Fluent in global and regional end-to-end supply chain management (storage facility, logistics and transport, docking, plant waste management).
  • Excellent strategic sourcing and negotiation skills to improve cost cutting and effective management of resources.
  • Able to manage purchase order cycle and/or process to ensure all equipment and machineries are delivered and stored on time.
  • Exceptional time and project management skills.
  • Fluent in English.
