We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Project Manager.

We are a trusted partner to MSS Operations in leading the digital transformation initiatives across asset classes, delivering key strategic, regulatory and optimisation outcomes.

The Opportunity:

The opportunity exists in Equities, GDM & Securities Financing Change team and the role is of a Project Manager, who will be supporting change programmes, to successfully define, deliver and embed that change, helping HSBC achieve its strategic goals. The role may have added line management responsibility for junior staff and may indirectly manage change or project teams. This team is part of the larger Central Change function across multiple products and is based in both Trading and Operational hubs.

Key deliverables of this role:

  • Running projects eg. Regulatory and market initiatives, new business, business requirements gathering and reporting, process improvement initiatives.
  • Interfacing with Vendor and IT teams for Operations aspects of system change and implementation.
  • Regular reporting of project activities in Clarity, in line with Business Transformation Framework for Central Change.
  • Interaction with the Line Management and Change Management Team Globally.
  • Business engagement and regular management updates on initiatives.
  • Support Target operating model activities, where applicable.
  • Involvement in project budget requirements and approval process
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do:

Impact on the Business:
  • Support business changes.
  • Own attributable items from the work list.
  • Document and establish benefits of outstanding items on book of work, leading to the agreement of a set of prioritised items.
  • Timely updates into the book of work for operations change reporting.
  • Closure of projects on time and within budget.
Active Engagement with Customers / Stakeholders:
  • Operations Management team
  • Business (Front Office) Managers across multiple products within Equities, GDM and Securities Financing.
  • Programme and project leads
  • Vendor and IT teams
  • Central Change PMO and Chief Control Office
Team Work:
  • Support colleagues to ensure the team delivers as a whole.
  • Adhere to Central Change objectives and HSBC Change framework
Management of Risk:
  • Strong awareness of the factors which might lead to financial loss and those mitigating controls to prevent such losses.
  • Strong awareness of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
  • Appropriate escalation and capture of key risks & issues relating to projects on book of work.
Observation of Internal Controls:
  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
Role Context:
  • Strong support, guidance and direction initially from direct manager.
  • Ongoing day to day support from existing team members.
  • Strong working relationships with peers in MSS Operations.
  • Working as part of a global team across the four main balance sheets
  • Strong working relationships with various trading desks.
  • Close working relationship with Vendor and various IT teams.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:
  • Proven track record of change management and business development within a large organisation.
  • Process flow documentation and mapping experience
  • Must have knowledge and experience of the Equities, Fixed Income Securities product and associated trade types.
  • A strong operational trade lifecycle knowledge is a requirement.
  • As well as supporting system changes and processing the candidate will need to manage key transformation projects in conjunction with Operations and IT.
  • Analytical mind with excellent judgement and decision making skills to identify exceptions in process handling.
  • Ability to drive out details and question procedures employed to deliver quality services.
  • Organised, adaptable and self-driven to achieve collective information both formally and informally from Subject Matter Experts.
  • Excellent relationship builder with strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and exacting standards.
  • Working knowledge of Corporate Action, Depot Management, Equity Derivatives would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience of working with Vesper team would be beneficial.
Due to the urgent hiring need, candidates with immediate right to work locally and no relocation need will be prioritised.
