Job Description


As Public Relations Manager, you are responsible for managing overall account team performance as it relates to client service and quality control on multiple, sizable pieces of business. They will need to understand Edelman\'s various consulting processes/approaches and capabilities, including public engagement, message workshops, master narrative assignments, brand engagement, stakeholder mapping exercises, and will recommend them appropriately to clients and lead teams on plan implementation. What you will be doing: Leads research, planning, and development of comprehensive Communications Marketing campaigns. Oversees account for teamwork quality and operational performance, ensuring deadline adherence, reaction to industry trends, and ensuring plan execution maps to client objectives within budget. Solicits counsel of senior staff and consultants when needed and appropriate. Demonstrates writing excellence when crafting internal and client correspondence, communications plans, press materials, new business proposals, etc. Sets and leads media relations course, including outreach plan creation, executive thought-leadership planning, drafting of materials, event management, growth of contact network, and effective pitching and training of spokespersons on speeches and presentations. Demonstrates practical and applied understanding of visual communications, social media, and the digital landscape and how to incorporate these channels into client programs with digital tools, such as blogs, widgets, and mobile applications. Generates original ideas for sustainable online community engagement, creates and successfully integrates them into plans, measures, and evaluates them against goals. Capitalizes on relationships with third-party influencers and internal business partners. Recommends and utilizes research and analytics as a key project performance indicator. Grows network of industry clients and participates in relevant professional organizations and networking activities that will grow Edelman\'s brand recognition and own reputation. Demonstrates understanding of core financial constructs, including revenue, profitability, pricing structures, utilization, realization, budgeting, and forecasting and how these play into office-wide revenue targets imparts this knowledge to junior staff. Helps plan/evaluate team structures to maximize project profitability/quality. Initiates new business processes, including identifying new business opportunities and helping lead the RFP response process. Grows account organically by introducing clients to relevant Edelman capabilities, including resources outside of the group, to advance their business goals. Oversees junior staff\'s work products to ensure quality and consistency. Ensures performance expectations, career development plans, and goals are set and reviewed annually during the formal performance review process for all direct reports. Manages down, across, and up by working closely with staff and peers and by ensuring senior team members meet approval deadlines and stay on track with deliverables. Stays up to date with emerging technologies and trends and understands how they integrate into Communications Marketing programs. What\'s required of you: Relevant agency experience, Communications Marketing, and/or related fields, including research, advertising, management consulting, media, or publishing. Tenure of experience will be an added but not sole consideration in decision making. With relevant education qualification, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Proven ability to manage a team, manage large projects and small teams on one or more sizable accounts A comprehensive understanding of his/her clients\' businesses and their missions, as well as their key stakeholders: consumers, employees, investors, regulators, media, vendors, partners, and other businesses/organizations, etc., and will be able to impart this knowledge to account team members. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to delegate tactical assignments and accurately judge and edit work of others. Familiar with best practice integrated Communications Marketing tactics and tools and will be able to recommend them to his/her clients. Display strong presentation skills.
