An exciting Purchasing Manager job has just become available at one of the leading electronics multinational manufacturing and production firms to be based in Penang. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Supply Chain, this is a role for a talent who is a leader in their field.

About the Purchasing Manager Role:
As the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing activities for direct spend category. You will also manage a team of six subordinates for global commodity management for direct spend category, liaising with company\'s counterpart in overseas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead vendor/supplier selection and maintain key working relationships for raw materials, supplies and capital equipment
• Develop and execute purchasing strategies
• Monitor performance indicators (KPIs) based on objectives
• Negotiate with strategic suppliers/vendors for optimal terms
• Work with suppliers/vendors to maintain and/or improve services
• Seek and partner with reliable suppliers/vendors
• Plan and participate with the quality department in supplier audits
• Assess, manage and mitigate risks; perform cost and scenario analysis; identify cost saving opportunities
• Review standard pricing updates
• Perform other duties as required by the company
• Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff and visitors

To succeed in this Purchasing Manager job, you will need to have the ability to work on your own initiative and possess a keen understanding of the full spectrum of supply chain.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor\'s degree in supply chain management, accounting, logistics or business administration
• Strong leadership, analytical, interpersonal and organisational skills
• Six and more years of demonstrated experience working in procurement/supply chain in a manufacturing environment. Manufacturing experience is preferable
• Experience working with MRP/ERP systems, Microsoft Relevant business, purchasing or procurement/supply chain degree is preferred
• Previous experience of working in a purchasing team preferably within the manufacturing environment
