Quality Control Executive

Job Description

To ensure that raw materials, packaging, in-process items, and finished products meet stringent quality, safety, and regulatory standards in a food manufacturing environment. This role involves conducting detailed inspections, overseeing production processes, maintaining hygiene standards, and ensuring compliance with ISO 22000, GMP, HACCP, and HALAL guidelines. The inspector will document findings, coordinate equipment maintenance, and perform ad-hoc tasks to support the Quality Control department.

Duties and responsibilities

Material and Product Inspections:



Conduct thorough inspections of incoming raw materials, packaging materials, in-process items, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality specifications. Perform visual inspections to identify defects, contaminants, or deviations from standards. Verify the quality and integrity of incoming raw and packaging materials against purchase orders and specifications.

Production Process Oversight:



Oversee daily production activities from start to finish to ensure consistency and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs). Monitor production processes to maintain compliance with quality standards and food safety regulations. Verify all stages of production to ensure alignment with established protocols.

Hygiene and Cleanliness Standards:



Ensure production teams maintain personal hygiene standards, including proper use of protective gear (e.g., hairnets, gloves). Monitor cleanliness of machinery, equipment, and the production environment to prevent contamination. Enforce environmental cleanliness protocols to meet food safety and regulatory requirements.

Equipment Calibration and Maintenance:



Verify that all inspection equipment (e.g., scales, thermometers, pH meters) is calibrated and functioning correctly. Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule repairs or replacements of faulty equipment to minimize production downtime.

Documentation and Reporting:



Record detailed inspection results, including measurements, defects, and deviations, in quality logs or digital systems. Prepare and submit reports on non-conformances and recommend corrective actions to the Head of Department. Maintain accurate records for audits and regulatory compliance.

Regulatory Compliance:



Ensure all production activities comply with food safety standards, including ISO 22000, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and HALAL certification requirements. Stay updated on relevant regulations and assist in preparing for external audits.

Additional Duties:



Perform ad-hoc tasks assigned by the Head of Department, such as assisting with quality training, process improvements, or special projects. Support cross-departmental initiatives to enhance overall product quality and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Minimum diploma or equivalent required. A diploma or degree in food science, quality assurance, or a related field is preferred. 2-4 years of experience in quality control within food manufacturing or a similar industry. Familiarity with food safety standards (ISO 22000, GMP, HACCP, HALAL) is highly desirable. Proficiency in using inspection tools (e.g., scales, calipers, thermometers) and understanding food safety testing methods (e.g., microbial testing, pH analysis). Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, SOPs, and quality control plans. Basic knowledge of production machinery and maintenance coordination. Certifications in HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP, or HALAL compliance are a plus. Food safety training (e.g., ServSafe) is advantageous. Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills to identify defects or non-conformances. Strong communication skills to liaise with production, maintenance, and quality teams. Familiarity with MS Office (Excel, Word) and quality management software for documentation and reporting. Ability to meticulously inspect products, review records, and ensure compliance with standards. Strong analytical skills to address issues related to product quality, non-conformities, or Halal compliance.

Pay: RM2,000.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
