BAT MALAYSIA IS LOOKING FOR QUALITY & SUSTAINABILITY OFFICER

SENIORITY LEVEL: Executive

FUNCTION: Operations

SALARY RANGE: Basic salary + excellent benefits + market leading bonus

LOCATION: Johor Bahru, Malaysia

ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

The role is responsible for ensuring the quality and sustainability of our products and operations, work closely with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain quality management systems, monitor sustainability practices, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Reports to: Operations Cell Associate Manager

Reporting Level: Individual Contributor

Geographic Scope: Local

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

1. Quality Assurance

• Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Collaborate with product development teams (NPI) to define and document product quality requirements on Product Validations, Trials and Acceptance of new product.
• To manage reporting and CAPA on Customer & Consumer Complaints and use data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Lead investigations and root cause analysis to resolve quality-related issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Develop and deliver training programs to enhance quality awareness and promote a culture of quality excellence.
• Responsible to collect data of quality parameters and to analyse performance of product, along with Monthly & Quarterly reporting to Global.
• Manage Pest & Hygiene controls for factory. Ensure no infestation and appropriate treatment and measures are in place.

2. Sustainability (EHS)

• Develop and implement sustainability strategies, goals, and initiatives in alignment with the company\'s overall objectives.
• Monitor and evaluate the environmental impact of company operations and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability principles into product design and development processes.
• Conduct assessments and audits to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry best practices.
• Track and report on key sustainability performance indicators, such as energy consumption, waste generation, and carbon emissions.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize workplace hazards and improve safety.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and monitor safety protocols, procedures, and policies.
• Develop and deliver EHS training programs to educate employees on safety practices and regulatory requirements.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and develop strategies to prevent recurrence while maintain & update safety data sheets (SDS) and other relevant EHS

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Bachelor\'s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience in quality assurance, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong knowledge of quality management systems, standards (e.g., ISO 9001), and regulatory requirements.
• Familiarity with EHS regulations, standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA), and best practices.
• Excellent understanding of risk assessment methodologies and hazard identification techniques.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Experience with auditing and compliance processes related to quality and EHS.
• Familiarity with sustainability frameworks and practices, such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and familiarity with relevant certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM) is a plus.
