We are seeking individuals to join HSBC\'S Wholesale department in the role of Vice President, Client Services, Custody.
What you\xe2\x80\x99\xe2\x80\x99ll do? Responsibilities to include:

  • Lead and extend the global Payments Risk function across SSV
  • Develop an operating model for the global Payments Risk function, including designing supporting processes, interfaces, frameworks and governance, plus developing an appropriate network of key internal and external stakeholders in order to influence overall Payments strategy and risk.
  • Act as liaison between the MSS Operations and key stakeholders and service providers, including FCC, GLCM, Payments Services Board and DBS.
  • Accountable to ensure key payment-related services delivered by DBS meet the required quality and performance standards, are cost-transparent and measurable, are suitably governed and represent value for money for Markets
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with NFR, Risk Stewards, senior product heads, with the key regional DBS and FCC subject matter experts and with Technology, in relation to Payments.
  • Drive the remaining deliverables for the Payment Transparency compliance programme and embed ongoing compliance as BAU in the respective functions with the Payments Risk team providing appropriate central assurance. Manage ongoing activities to mitigate financial crime risk within MSS Operations payment flows

Principal Accountabilities:

Key activities and decision making areas


  • Payments Risk Mitigation (Regional)
Maintain and enhance the Payment control environment for MSS Operations through:
  • Enhancing the design & operation of key MI, controls and KRIs for all payments and securities (e.g. STP/manual) related activities reported centrally for MSS Ops to ensure they are future ready and remain fit for purpose (high quality, standardize, upfront, automate, simplify and delayer)
  • Extension and implementation of Manual Payment Control Framework to SSV (e.g. ELearning/ Mandate Certification etc)
  • Drive the reduction in manual payments
  • Proactively anticipate & mitigate future risks which may impact payments by partnering closely with MSS Operations and DBS
  • Implement fit-for-purpose/consistent standards and Policies across MSS Ops partnering with NFR/Risk Steward and Audit
  • Maintain Global Standards / Payment transparency assurance for Markets Ops and extend to SSV

  • Client fulfilment (Regional)
  • Proactively improve Client Experience in response to Voice of the Client (VoC) across MSS Ops
  • Payment Right first time - Improve Client STP rate by strengthening and extending of SSI assurance
  • Enhance WOLF Client Experience while remaining within Risk Appetite by:
    • Optimisation of \xe2\x80\x98rules and/or Good Guy\xe2\x80\x99 processing to reduce false positives across MSS Ops.
  • Use of available tooling to Proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency and better serve our clients
    • SSI Assurance \xe2\x80\x93 More payments right first time
Retire Manual Payment activities across MSS to enable focus on activities with greatest client impact
  • Payments Strategy & Change (Regional)
  • Take an active role in Rubix through implementation of our Markets Payments change projects \xe2\x80\x93 Driving down manual payments through system Enhancements & leveraging system functionalities
  • Implement payment strategy in conjunction with IT and the defined TOM (multi -year plan) as follows:
    • ISO 20022 globally.
    • Extending Manual Payment App across MSS Ops with enhanced controls and SSI automationMore Payment Right first time \xe2\x80\x93by harnessing digital platforms, allowing more proactive payment improvements

  • DBS/ Stakeholder Service Performance (Regional)
  • Service Data Analytics & Optimisation.
  • Formal service agreement between Payments Services and MSS.
  • Monthly SLA review / KPIs.


Requirements
What you will need to succeed in this role? Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
  • Experience / potential in leading a multi-discipline function on a global basis
  • Basic knowledge of SWIFT and HSBC payments landscapes and flows including GPS, GMG etc., an advantage
  • Proactive communicator with demonstrable track record in managing stakeholders up to Managing Director level.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good relationship across multiple business lines, service providers, asset classes and MSS Operations regional and operational hubs
  • Experience in a client-facing role an advantage
