Maritime & Trade by IHS Markit is the leading source of maritime data and expertise. By connecting Sea-web\'s comprehensive ship and ownership data with AISLive\'s terrestrial and satellite ship movement intelligence, Maritime Portal delivers a powerful market-leading solution. Ships, movements, maritime intelligence and insight are integrated into one online solution. This enables deeper analysis of the global shipping fleet and answer\'s the industry\'s needs by utilising all of Maritime & Trade\'s capabilities.

The role

You will be part of the Ship Ownership & Companies team, composed of 6 colleagues based in Penang within our Maritime Operations sector, providing support on research, validation, and update of Maritime entities against our global fleet data.

  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent in relevant field
  • Keen interest in the Maritime industry
  • Previous work experience with database would be advantageous
  • Previous work experience in Maritime industry would be advantageous
  • Good research & analysis skills
  • Excellent communication
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work to a high level of accuracy with attention to detail
  • An aptitude to learn and adapt quickly in a rapidly changing environment
  • The ability to build strong working relationships in a collaborative setting with immediate coworkers
  • Be legally eligible to work for the duration of the program in the country for which you apply
  • Good multitasking skills
Primary responsibilities include
  • Research & analysis pertaining to Maritime and financial related datasets as applicable to entities.
  • Updating and maintaining the Ship Ownership data for the global fleet in response to the above.
  • Working closely with in-country/region experts to validate data.
  • Capture and validate data through both our primary sources and newly acquired sources to transform data into critical information.
  • To actively research and scrutinize a variety of data sources to extract and evaluate relevant data
  • To ensure the team\'s work and methods are carried out according to the Company\'s Quality Policy and Style Guide
  • To carry out regular audits on the data ensuring currency, consistency, completeness and correctness is achieved.
  • To review and perform full check and update the sanctioned company\'s record.
