Academic Results

  • BSKL Primary students regularly exceed expectations and our Year 6 students perform an average of 10 points better than their international school peers on end of year assessments.
  • Amongst our IGCSE cohort 95% of all grades achieved were A*, A, or B and 99% of all grades achieved a C or higher in 2022.
  • 100% pass rate on A-levels and 85% of all grades achieved were A*, A, or B in 2022.

Global academic results

The 2021-2022 school year was one of the strongest ever in terms of Nord Anglia Education\'s academic results. For the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, our students achieved a 35.1 global point average, far exceeding the global average of 31.9. A third of students eared a perfect score of 45. In the A-levels, our students achieved 60.5% of grades at A*-A, along with 77.3% at A*-B. The group\'s latest IGCSE student cohort, consisting of 2,351 students across 41 Nord Anglia schools, achieving an outstanding set of results, with 52.8% of grades at 9 - 7 for the year and 90.8% at 9 - 4.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced teacher of Music. You will have strong keyboard skills, knowledge of music technology, experience of running events and, preferably, international school experience. Join our fast-paced international environment, and you will deliver UK National Curriculum and Music IGSCE and A Level programmes. You will challenge your students to set ambitious targets for themselves and seek out and use innovative teaching practices to enhance our students\' experiences and outcomes.

You would be joining a thriving and committed music department, working with highly talented students in a unique school music program. You would benefit from NAE training and also training from the world-renowned Juilliard School at least twice a year with further opportunities to go to NYC when they arise.

The department consists of four classroom teachers alongside seven classroom instrumental teachers with a further team of visiting instrumental teachers on hand for the students to take individual lessons. All students take instrumental classes from year 2 upwards and by the time they arrive in year 7 have had tuition on one string and one wind instrument so most can read music.

BSKL has a strong reputation for music with a 60 piece windband and 85 piece symphony orchestra in the secondary school alone. We are looking for a strong candidate who can provide even more extra-curricular opportunities for our pupils and help us with our provision of events for our local community and beyond.

About you

With the ability to create a classroom culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved, you will have a university degree in your specialist subject, a teaching qualification plus considerable teaching experience and knowledge of the curriculum. Receptive to feedback and ready to embrace change, you will be keen to share best practice with colleagues and peers.

The ideal candidate will be a highly qualified, excellent classroom practitioner. You will be positive, patient and helpful. The music programme has been extremely successful over a number of years and you will want to continue and develop it in this vein. This is a perfect opportunity for an individual with exceptional credentials as a musician and educator looking to further their career.

A strong ambassador for the school, you will be able to develop new ways to engage students and parents with the wider school and Nord Anglia Education community.
