Job Description

The Senior Accounts Officer is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the logistics division, ensuring accurate accounting, timely reporting, and compliance with statutory and company requirements. This role involves close coordination with operations, procurement, and management teams to ensure effective financial control and support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Accounting & Reporting

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure timely and accurate posting of transactions in the accounting system. Perform account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end closing activities. Maintain general ledger and ensure proper classification of accounts.

2. Accounts Payable & Receivable

Verify supplier invoices and process payments according to company policy. Monitor customer accounts and ensure timely collection of receivables. Reconcile supplier and customer statements regularly.

3. Cost Control & Logistics Coordination

Monitor logistics-related expenses, including transport, warehousing, and handling costs. Prepare cost analysis and variance reports for management review. Support operations by verifying shipping documents, billing accuracy, and freight claims.

4. Taxation & Compliance

Ensure compliance with local tax regulations (SST, income tax, withholding tax, etc.). Liaise with auditors, tax agents, and regulatory authorities as required. Maintain proper documentation for audits and compliance purposes.

5. Budgeting & Forecasting

Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts. Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve cost efficiency.

6. Team & Process Management

Supervise junior accounting staff and review their work. Streamline accounting processes to improve accuracy and turnaround time. Support system upgrades and internal control improvements.
