The Opportunity The Senior Administrative Executive - Research Finance is required to apply the accounting expertise to provide specialized accounting advice and services to support the University\'s overall strategies and practices. This includes undertaking activities such as day to day finance operations matters, monthly closing of management reports, preparation of audit/statutory/compliance reports and monitors the financial position for the University. The Senior Administrative Executive - Research Finance maintains effective working relationships with clients and is a trusted source of expert advice in relation to accounting processes. Reporting Line: The position reports to Manager, Finance under broad direction. Key Responsibilities Support the Manager, Finance in delivering a broad range of management accounting services, according to best practice, and key performance indicators. This includes undertaking activities such as day to day research finance operations matters, monthly closing of management reports, administering the fixed assets of the university and ensuring timely submission of reports according to the timeline set. Undertake budget and management reporting to meet compliance and business needs, including preparing budgets and forecasts for research grants/contracts and continually monitoring financial performance/expenditure against those budgets and forecasts. Support the Manager, Finance in reviewing and administering the research costing & pricing model ensuring the research project costing is in line with company policies, procedures, tax regulations and financial accounting standards. Organise financial acquittals for external funding bodies ensuring that they are in accordance with agreed formats and comply with relevant funding rules and regulations Contribute to maintaining financial operational systems, including overseeing work flow processes, supervising the compliant maintenance of records, implementing continuous improvement activities relating to accounting practices/protocols and quality assurance standards. Build and sustain effective working relationships with a network of colleagues, clients and stakeholders and use these to identify and address client needs. Key Selection Criteria Education/Qualifications The appointee will have: A degree in a relevant field with subsequent relevant experience (ACCA/CPA/CIMA/MIA); or A track record of experience in financial and management accounting coupled with excellent team management and stakeholder engagement experience Knowledge And Skills Demonstrated experience and expertise in management accounting. Detailed knowledge of policies, financial accounting standards and the interrelationships between a range of policies and activities in financial reporting to ensure the activities are in compliance. Highly-developed communication skills, including the ability to communicate with impact with a diversity of stakeholders and effectively communicate complex financial information to people with varying levels of financial literacy A strong commitment to excellence in customer service and a hands-on approach to service provision with proven excellence in relationship management Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret data, identify trends/issues and make practical recommendations Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to set priorities, manage time, plan work to meet deadlines and maintain excellent attention to detail/accuracy Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of a team as well as being able to exercise high levels of independence, judgement and initiative.
