Job Description

As the Senior Associate, Chemistry, you will contribute to the technical development of new formulations for products in support of SC Johnson\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x99s (SCJ) Home Cleaning or Pest Control Business. You will develop new products, line extensions, and assist with technology advancements that result in consumer preferred benefits. You will participate in cross functional teams under the supervision of a Global Research, Development & Engineering (RD&E) Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop specifications for new formulations of new products or product changes and enter into document management system
• Assist in leading technology advancements and competitive assessments which result in new consumer benefits, reduced cost or improved environmental impact of the products to meet internal ingredient standards and industry best practices for safety, scientific significance, accuracy, and recordkeeping
• Execute all formula relevant testing and trials within the laboratory, and work within the pilot plant for prototype preparation, evaluation testing, validation etc., with accurate recording and reporting of data
• Analyze experimental data and prepare written reports summarizing results
• Collaborate with multifunctional core teams (R&D, Design, Marketing, Marketing Research, and Product Supply) to successfully identify, develop, and launch new products in an accelerated manner
• Work with multiple product types and can translate user needs into consumer-preferred solutions, which is an important aspect of the product development process
• Interpret consumer test results and provide recommendations for product improvements and claims
• Follow general lab safety guidelines and maintain a clean, orderly work area

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

• Bachelor\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x99s in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science Technology, or equivalent engineering program
• Minimum 2 to 3 years of formulation experience
• Experience in experimental design
• Surfactants and related liquid chemistry knowledge would be added advantage
