As a Senior Associate in our Tax Team, you will assist in managing a portfolio of clients with a focus on establishing trusting, long term relationships. You\xe2\x80\x99ll assist our team with mobile employees management, employment tax, tax disputes/ controversy, rewards, equity and compensation in addition to mobility policy, process and governance consulting.

You will work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Professional skills and responsibilities for this level include but are not limited to:

  • Managing an exclusive portfolio of clients who have a vary number of internationally deployed employees in and out of Malaysia \xe2\x80\x93 including managing tax compliance matters from end to end for clients and their employees, developing effective tax minimisation strategies, identifying tax planning opportunities to minimise tax costs and cross-border tax matters and managing client relationships.
  • Providing accurate, practical and proactive individual and employment tax advice to clients on issues relating to mobile employees, including double tax agreements, tax residency changes and tax planning.
  • Acting as the primary contact for employees and also a contact for client management teams (HR and finance/tax).
  • Analysing complex ideas or proposals and building a range of meaningful recommendations. Using multiple sources of information including broader stakeholder views to develop solutions and recommendations.
  • proactively involved in marketing and business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients. Pursue opportunities to develop existing and new skills outside of your comfort zone.
  • Acquires and applies commercial and technical expertise by staying up to date in industry and with market trends.
  • Develop a perspective on key global trends, including globalisation, and how they impact the firm and our clients.
  • Creating a positive environment by monitoring workloads of the team while meeting client expectations and respecting the work-life quality of team members.
  • Act to resolve issues which prevent effective teamwork, even during times of change and uncertainty.
  • Coach peers and fellow team members and encourage them to take ownership of their development.
  • Manage a variety of viewpoints to build consensus and create positive outcomes for all parties.
  • Focus on building trusted relationships.
  • Uphold the firm\'s code of ethics and business conduct.
  • Managing engagements including preparing concise, accurate documents and balancing project economics management with the occurrence of unanticipated issues.
  • Keeping leadership informed of progress and issues.
Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate possesses a tertiary qualification in any discipline
  • 2+ years of relevant experience for a senior position. Candidates with less experience will be considered for the position of associates.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple assignments, clients and staff.
  • Self-starter and learner with the ability to demonstrate resilience, self-motivation and a positive can-do attitude
  • Ability to confidently deal with demanding situations, various stakeholders and requirements under stress and time pressure
  • Clear, articulate and confident written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to multitask, apply and replicate skills and knowledge learnt in actual work fast
  • Demonstrate good project management, problem-solving and analytical skills as required to work in teams
  • Accountability and taking ownership of work
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability and/or a proven record of success with automation and digitization in a professional services environment including innovating through new and existing technologies, and working with large complex data sets to build models and leverage data visualization tools.
  • Exposure to pricing, client value and the negotiation process - including reviewing contracts and finding opportunities to introduce new pricing options.
