KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Plan and conduct research for the Limnology & Gases unit within the Division, while developing, reviewing, managing, and implementing cutting-edge environmental research plans, programmes, blueprints, standard operating procedures and processes for continuous improvement including but not limited to hydrogen sulfide (H2S)-related and greenhouse gases (GHG) studies.
2. Lead data collection, collation and complex data analysis, study research output, in combination with extensive literature review of published research, established methodologies, international and national standards, guidelines, legislations and regulations for synthesis of useful information and recommendations to the management for informed decision-making.
3. Stay up to date with the latest developments in field measurement techniques, remote sensing, process automation and sensor development, environmental data modelling and projection, international and national policies, standards, guidelines, and legislations relevant to hydrogen sulfide issues, corrosion mitigation, management, and frameworks as well as carbon footprint management.
4. Prepare and facilitate necessary paperwork such as technical reports, white papers, power point presentations etc. for decision-making by management, corporate communications, knowledge sharing and stakeholder (corporate and public) engagement.
5. Manage and review Intellectual Property (IP)-related tasks and issues and assessing technical/technological portfolio for relevant projects.
6. Coordinate the planning, management and implementation of research project associated tasks and management of procurement and contracts (including research collaboration contracts)
7. Foster good working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and drive potential future research collaborations that are beneficial to the company.
8. Take charge of any other relevant tasks associated with hydropower environmental sustainability as assigned / required by the Unit/Division, including preparing management papers/blueprints and annual research project budgets.

QUALIFICATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor\'s in Biology OR Environmental Sciences OR relevant field with minimum with eight (8) years working experience in technical field related to hydropower or similar large project development. Masters by research on environmental issues (and/or Corrosion Sciences) related to hydropower or similar large project development would be an advantage.
  • Has extensive knowledge in the areas of biogeochemical processes and physical sciences of natural resources especially those on aquatic ecosystems. Possesses in-depth knowledge and abreast of environmental management policies and regulations.
  • Has comprehensive knowledge and skills on research methodologies, protocols, and procedures as well as statistical analysis of data. Strong background in modelling and/or spatial analyses work will be an added advantage.
THINKING ENVIRONMENT & CHALLENGES:
  • The topic of environmental sustainability is dynamic and no one solution fits all needs. Thus, require skills in the strategic planning and development, forward-thinking, and innovative research mindset that supports the company\'s business while taking into consideration potential contributions to the technology portfolio (i.e., patents) of the company.
  • Research is highly uncertain in nature, which requires exceptional research skills to analyze and synthesize complex data generated from research/pilot projects, present well-structured findings, and leverage findings into actionable higher-level strategic decision-making.
  • The topic of environment needs to be communicated to business society, where strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to steer and establish meaningful outcomes that make business sense.
Preference will be given to internal candidate.
