Job Summary:

The Senior Engineer - Mechanical & Electrical will assist the Section Head/Construction Foreman in coordinating and managing Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) works for the Gamuda Projects. This role requires planning, monitoring, and executing assigned tasks to ensure the project's M&E systems are completed on time, within budget, and according to quality and safety standards. The incumbent will also be responsible for overseeing M&E installations, ensuring compliance with design specifications, and resolving technical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate Site Activities:

Collaborate with the Section Head/Foreman to ensure smooth workflow of M&E works.

Plan M&E Work and Resources:

Develop and implement work programs to ensure timely progress, efficient resource allocation, and proper coordination between mechanical and electrical installations.

Address Technical Issues:

Apply engineering concepts to solve onsite M&E-related technical problems during construction.

Monitor M&E Work:

Ensure all M&E installations meet design specifications, quality, and safety standards.

Control Material Usage:

Manage M&E materials efficiently to minimize wastage and ensure cost control within budget.

Testing and Commissioning:

Supervise and coordinate the testing and commissioning of M&E systems to ensure proper functioning before project handover.

Collaborate with Teams:

Work closely with supervisors, surveyors, lab personnel, foremen, subcontractors, and other departments to achieve seamless integration of M&E systems with the rest of the construction works.

Conduct Inspections:

Perform regular site inspections to monitor M&E installation quality, identify potential issues, and provide solutions.

Provide Updates:

Report regularly to immediate superiors on project progress and any M&E-related issues.

Ensure Safety Compliance:

Adhere to environmental, health, and safety regulations, ensuring safe work practices in all M&E activities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience in M&E works, in consultancy, construction, or project coordination roles. Familiar with local regulatory requirements and standards, including Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), DOSH, MS, IEC, and UBBL. Understanding of M&E systems such as HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, electrical distribution, and ELV systems. Proficiency in engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or Microsoft Project is an added advantage. Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and in a team. Proficiency in M&E management tools and software. Strong understanding of M&E design principles and construction methodologies. Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and safety standards for M&E works. Hands-on experience in M&E installation, testing, and commissioning processes.

Skills & Abilities

Skilled in reviewing and analyzing construction drawings (consultants' design drawings and contractors' shop drawings). Experienced in conducting site inspections, verifying M&E installation progress, and preparing reports or updates. Able to prepare and coordinate submission of shop drawings, material samples, and documents to consultants for approval. Comfortable managing work across various building disciplines to ensure mechanical installations are aligned and integrated. Proficient in tools such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; familiarity with BIM/Revit is a plus. Able to handle multiple tasks effectively, including site walks, coordination meetings, documentation, and inspection scheduling. Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with multiple stakeholders at different project levels. Adheres strictly to safety regulations and quality standards on-site; able to participate in toolbox meetings and site briefings.
