Duties and Responsibilities Specific duties of a lecturer may include:
To teach in the BA (Hons) Civil Aviation Management and Diploma in Civil Aviation Management programmes in the Faculty of Business.
Some of the courses the candidates are expected to teach are Introduction to Civil Aviation Management, Aviation Information Management, Air Travel Ticketing, Air Traffic Control, Airport Operations, Fundamentals of Aircraft & Flying Concept, Safety Management in Aviation, Airport Customer Service and Air Cargo Management
Preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars
Conducting tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, etc. as required by the education process and degree program;
Initiation and development of course material, with appropriate advice from and support of more senior staff;
Acting as course coordinator and offering guidance to assistant lecturers and tutors in the course and supervision of sessional/part-time staff as appropriate;
Supervision of major senior undergraduate (final year) and postgraduate research projects;
Setting of assessment and marking of student assignments and examinations;
Consultation with students, including academic counseling and pastoral caring;
A range of administrative functions, the majority of which are connected with the courses in which the academic teaches, but may also include responsibilities that relate to research, education, School and Faculty development;
Attendance at School/Faculty/University meetings as required
Membership of committees at School, Faculty, University or external levels as required;
Applying research grants, conducting research and publishing scholarly papers in support of the Faculty\xe2\x80\x99s research concentration areas;
Represent the Faculty and work in collaboration with the University\xe2\x80\x99s Marketing Team in student recruitment nationally and internationally;
Involvement in professional activities; and
Embrace and support the Faculty\xe2\x80\x99s commitment to national and international accreditation.
Selection Criteria
Master in Civil Aviation Management from a recognized university
A minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching courses relating to civil aviation management in a bachelor or diploma programme in civil aviation management.
Capability to provide quality teaching in the specified discipline and other related areas.
Evidence of ability to conduct research in the area of specialization including an emerging track record of refereed publications.
Evidence of well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
Evidence of having the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team.
Ability to work efficiently, meet project timelines, and excellent organizational skills.
Evidence in providing consulting and training services as well as willingness to develop and deliver continuing education programs for practicing professionals for their personal and professional development.
