ABOUT THE POSITION
Responsibilities:
Level Art Creation
Build high-quality, compositionally strong game levels that meet both Art style and quality requirements.
Own worldbuilding and environment layout across assigned areas to achieve immersive and believable scenes.
Collaborate closely with Level Design to ensure environmental storytelling and player flow are aligned with gameplay objectives.
Contribute to art tests and pitch work to help secure or grow key projects for the studio.
Ability to take a level from block out to completion to the performance and visual quality required of the game and platform.
Communication & Mindset
Take on challenging level art briefs and large-scale scenes with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
Demonstrate an analytical mindset when approaching layout pipelines and support leads and art directors with clear visual documentation and breakdowns.
Collaboration
Act as the bridge between disciplines to ensure all aspects of the game world come together smoothly.
Implement feedback effectively and maintain alignment with the broader artistic and design vision.
Proactively suggest layout and visual improvements that enhance storytelling, flow, and readability.
Technology
Stay up to date with the latest tools, workflows, and best practices in level art, terrain systems, and layout composition.
Proactively troubleshoot level art challenges related to gameplay readability, draw calls, lighting passes, or visual continuity.
Work closely with Technical Artists to identify pipeline inefficiencies and continuously improve level art workflows through better tools and practices.
Planning
Participate in planning and estimation sessions with the art team and production, evaluating your scope accurately.
Communicate dependencies and blockers early to keep workflows efficient and predictable.
Mentoring
Help junior artists understand quality standards, composition principles, and production timing in level art.
Contribute feedback that improves team output and confidence in delivery.
Support leads in coaching others through layout passes, polish, and visual storytelling decisions.
