The Sputter Maintenance Senior Manager must have a strong background and experience in managing a high-volume production equipment maintenance team. The position will oversee the daily line maintenance team that supports the media sputtering process. Responsibilities will be focused on conforming to established equipment maintenance procedures and ensuring the stable, predictable performance of the sputtering tools. You will lead a team of skilled technicians and implement strategies to minimize downtime and improve productivity.

The Sputter Maintenance Snr Mgr must work closely with the sputter equipment and sputter process teams to ensure that the product performance metrics are met. Deploying new equipment technologies, providing resources to support the design and transfer of new products, optimizing preventative maintenance frequencies and procedures, managing equipment uptime and availability metrics,

and sustaining consistent tool performance are key responsibilities. The role will report to the Sputter Equipment Engineering Director.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

• Manage and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance. Create a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Work closely with other sites to leverage best practices.

Equipment Maintenance:

• Optimize sputter equipment preventative maintenance programs, including scheduled, unscheduled, and predictive maintenance programs using 4IR. Troubleshoot and resolve daily line issues to meet OEE metrics and meet weekly volume production goals. Analyze equipment related downtime, and diagnose root cause issues, and implement solutions to continuously improve equipment performance metrics.
• Provide technician support to execute hardware upgrades and technology advancements. Collaborate with external suppliers to ensure consistency of components, and develop second sources for supply continuity.

Budget Management:

• Manage spare parts and replacement costs to meet the financial maintenance budget.
• Optimize sputter target precious metal utilization to realize on-going cost savings. Identify process improvement opportunities in the maintenance operations for efficiency improvement. Monitor and control inventory levels to minimize wastage and excess inventory holding costs.

Safety:

• Ensure compliance to all safety regulations and policies. Lead safety initiatives and promote a culture of safety awareness.

Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and performance metrics. Generate regular reports on maintenance activities and key equipment KPI\'s. Embrace 4IR capabilities and integrate into standardized metrics.

Qualifications

• Highly motivated individual who has at least 15+ years\' experience with a B.S. or M.S. degree and a successful track record in equipment maintenance operations and sustaining experience, equipment design, and managing extended teams of Maintenance resources in support of 24/7/365 high volume mass production environment
• Degrees must be in mechanical, electrical or related Engineering or physical science.
• The candidate should have demonstrated technical capability and positive results in field of Thin Film process equipment and related critical sub-system hardware and controls.
• Experience with Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) and Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) technology and equipment is highly desirable.
• The applicant must be a strong problem solver, organized and quality driven.
• Experience in Six sigma methodologies, SPC, data extraction and data analytics highly desirable.
• Required experiences include in-depth understanding and proven demonstration of equipment maintenance and operations support, as well as good understanding of either semiconductor/wafer/recording media level processes and cleanroom requirements.
• The position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong project management and people skills, and must be able to act as an active team leader or cross-functional team member to provide the best results to the teams and company.
• Must know how to effectively work with engineers and technicians and be able to clearly transfer technical knowledge and instructions in an accessible manner.
• PC skills include, MS Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. PLC experience highly preferred.
