Purpose:
- The MLK BCO is responsible to maintain the stability of the TLP throughout its operating life period. This includes not only normal routine operations but also during simultaneous operations mode (SIMOPS) on the TLP where there will be concurrent high-risk activities ongoing (i.e. drilling, turnarounds, etc.).
- The MLK BCO will be part of the frontline operations team. He/she will work with/interact with third parties (Shell maintenance support, 3rd party support contractors/vendors) to ensure the integrity of MLK\xe2\x80\x99s Hull & Marine systems and sub systems.
- The hull and marine systems which are part of the responsibility of the BCO are (but not limited to) ballast systems, top-tensioned risers (TTR) systems, TLP tendons, hull tanks, metocean systems, sand their related mechanical/instrument equipment.
- To ensure MLK complies to marine ABS Class requirements, the BCO shall plan for and execute tasks to meet these requirements.
- As a senior staff, the BCO shall exhibit a high standard of leadership, supervisory and safety behaviors and will ensure that all aspects of facility stability and utility systems operations and supervision are carried out effectively. Delegated tasks will be monitored and controlled formally and
- Execute the HSSE Plan & HSSE-MS through compliance with Company and local regulatory HSSE & security procedures & regulations
- To operate MLK TLP facility to meet the Companies availability and reliability targets while ensuring strict control of HSSE. This requires disciplined execution of routine/non routine operations and maintenance tasks to maintain technical integrity, and rigorous controls during routine/non-routine activities and crisis situations.
- Assist with supervising the day-to-day activities of manpower services contractor and 3rd party contractors.

Accountabilities:
- Ensure full compliance with Life Saving Rules and Process Safety Fundamentals at all times.
- Operates ballast control mechanism and instrumentation, ensuring proper position, draught, and trim of the TLP during changes in variable load, routine operations and non-routine operations such as drilling, mooring and towing
- Responsible for own safety and conducting one\xe2\x80\x99s self in alignment with Company HSSE policy, standards and procedures during emergency and heavy weather situations.
- Operate ballast control panel, including primary and emergency bilge pumping, cooling water fire systems and alarm systems.
- Maintain proper ballasting and de-ballasting, using manual controls as necessary.
- Maintain continuous watch from the control room with regards to location of supply and standby vessels.
- Monitor tendon tension management system (TTMS) and alarm systems.
- Perform stability calculations in cooperation with the PS and / or OIM.
- Perform PM and routine tasks to ensure integrity of Hull and Marine related systems and equipment. Perform initial troubleshooting on issues arising and to liaise with onshore maintenance support, Project and Facility Improvement Teams to identify solutions for facilities issues.
- Responsible for providing day-to-day training as required for other BCO/CROs.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of procedures related to proper responses in heavy weather conditions, structural damage, well blowout, equipment failure, and other types of emergencies and catastrophes.
- Monitor And Maintain Pollution Control Measures
- Carry Out Emergency Response Role. Incumbent is required to accept the relevant roles assigned, by signing the accountability and responsibility pack.
- Responsible in ensuring MLK meets AMS requirement
Dimensions:
- The BCO position is offshore based with a company defined home based for admin purposes. Working schedule is on a 14 days on/off basis but can be subjected to future changes as deem necessary by management.

Special Challenges:
As the only tensioned leg platform (TLP) in Malaysia, there is little operating references within the country, the BCO is not expected to have experience in operating a TLP. However he/she is expected to learn on the job on the relevant practices and procedures related to the job. The BCO is also expected to establish a healthy working relationship with onshore maintenance support and 3rd party contractors/surveyors to facilitate operations.

Experience and Qualifications required:
- Self-driven & motivated individual minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Production Operations with involvement in at least one major offshore project.
- Previous exposure to deepwater offshore infrastructure (TLP, FPSO, Spar) either from operations or project/construction perspective will be recognized but selection be based on proven performance, drive and ability to learn.
- Fluent in English and able to report well both verbally and in writing
- Tertiary education to HNC level or higher in engineering or related disciplines relevant to the petroleum and gas industry, with a minimum 5 years experience in production, maintenance and marine (ballast, collision avoidance, bilging, etc.) operations.
- Minimum marine COC Certification of Class 3 Deck Officer STCW 95 qualifications.
- 5 years VLCC or floater (FPSO) experiences as appropriate.
