About the job Senior Petroleum EngineerROLE PURPOSE:The Senior Petroleum Engineer plays a crucial role as a link between asset management planning and field operations. They are required to integrate with other disciplines to maintain reservoir depletion plans and reserves maturation. The main roles for the Senior Petroleum Engineer include:

  • Assisting and deputising for the Subsurface Manager when required and providing leadership for the Petroleum Engineering team or the wider multidisciplinary Subsurface team as necessary.
  • Generating short-term production forecasts, life-of-field forecasts, and being responsible for the submission and completion of profiles (in the subsurface section) for the annual business plan, ADP, FDP, WPB, ARPR, mid-year, and end-of-year reserves processes.
  • The Senior Petroleum Engineer is typically assigned to work on multiple fields/projects and assignments concurrently. They should be able to handle complex assignments independently in an accelerated manner, striving to complete assigned tasks on time and with high-quality standards.
  • Assisting in designing and evaluating the number of wells, their completion design, and fitness for purpose to develop and explore SK320 fields to meet the business objectives efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Serving as the focal point for well/reservoir surveillance activities with the offshore Production Operation Team. They provide direct guidance to the Production Ops team on all subsurface/well-related activities.
  • Providing subsurface input and support to the wells/workover team for any well intervention activities, including direct offshore support.
  • Offering subsurface support to the drilling/Ops team in all subsurface matters related to well testing/clean up.
  • Acting as the focal point for subsurface performance reporting with Petronas, internal stakeholders (i.e., IOM, ARPR, Reserves, TCM, MCM).
  • Leading and coordinating meetings with partners and Corporate Office. They liaise with team members of all disciplines to deliver agreed action items with partners and Corporate Office.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:Well Planning
  • Justify the design and number of wells needed to meet the target production objectives.
  • Prepare the off-take rate, drawdown, target pressure, well intervention, and well monitoring plans for development wells.
  • Undertake data preparation and analysis to support well completion designs and related cost estimates.
Well Performance Evaluation
  • Support data collection for well intervention and workover recommendations.
  • Monitor the field depletion performance of specified fields.
  • Recommend production survey logs and interpret results.
Well Testing and Sampling Programmes
  • Assist in the design of MDT, Well Testing, and sampling programs.
  • Assist in the analysis of MDT/DST data.
  • Assist in field design, development, and surveillance plan.
Exploration and Development Drilling
  • Support subsurface teams to prepare the Basis for Well Design (BFWD) for development wells and any exploration wells. Ensure that BFWD documents comply with reservoir management, drilling targets, and production target objectives.
  • Offshore visits: Coordinate MDT, DST, off-line well testing operations on drilling rigs. Continuously communicate results to the KL office team.
  • Support all drilling operations during exploration and development operations, including being the subsurface key focal point with the drilling and completion team during operations.
  • Assist the drilling team in all operational matters pertaining to Petroleum Engineering.
  • Responsible for the reservoir development plan, including preliminary well design, by demonstrating the most optimum/cost-effective development plan.
  • Responsible for FDP submission specifically on Reservoir/Petroleum Engineering section.
  • Responsible for technical deliverables on Reservoir Engineering matters, to engage with JVP/MPM in Milestone Reviews and Corporate office technical functions to obtain the necessary technical endorsement.
Planning & Forecasting
  • Liaise with the commercial/economics team in delivering field economics analysis for WPB and BP submission exercises.
  • Liaise with the facilities team for all CAPEX/OPEX matters for submission in Reserves/ARPR.
  • Assist in preparing optimum well plans in line with SK320 development plans, ensuring they are integrated with the plans of all related functions.
  • Update production forecasts and reserve estimates and update ADP, Annual reserves reports, FDP, and DSP, etc.
  • Assist in designing and maintaining the production database.
  • Responsible for generating gas profiles with Eclipse/MBAL for commercial and management teams during BP, WPB, ARPR processes.
  • Focal point and responsible party for the submission of all corporate and Petronas reports (i.e., IOM, WPB, ARPR, BP).
Operational Philosophy
  • Assist in developing an Operations Management System (OMS) for well plans and designs, which forms the basis for all integrated actions with related functions including exploration, drilling, production, and reservoir engineering.
  • Focal point for reserves audit from corporate office and/or from Petronas.
Petroleum Engineering; Well and Reservoir Surveillance for Production Operations Support
  • Conduct Petroleum Engineering activities to support day-to-day Production Operation activities.
  • Attend daily operation and drilling meetings.
  • Provide steer to ops team when required to ensure RMP is fully complied with while maintaining production targets.
  • Offshore visits to Pegaga platform for ops support assignment.
  • Update reservoir model which includes history matching and subsequent production forecasting.
  • Monitor daily well and field performance and ensure that field performance is as per the reservoir management plan.
  • Update Reservoir Management Plan with the latest production data.
  • Update and obtain reservoir pressure and investigate any deviations or abnormalities.
  • Update Prosper, MBAL, GAP, Eclipse Model to reflect the latest production historical data.
  • Check and rectify daily allocated production volumes.
  • Liaise with the Production Operation team to ensure all wells and reservoir performance are fully in compliance with the RMP.
  • Check and verify that all production figures, including those reported in the Daily Production Report (i.e., sales and fuel and flare), are correct on a daily basis.
  • Check and verify that well performance is operating within the normal operating envelope on a daily basis.
  • Liaise with the Production Operation team to collect and update reservoir and surface pressure.
  • Maintain OFM, Avocet database to ensure that all production-related information is correct and updated.
HSSE
  • The Senior Petroleum Engineer will be expected to gain early familiarisation with Mubadala HSSE policy and ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with same.
Reporting, Stakeholder Engagement & Management
  • Provide reporting to Management on production updates, well status for TCM, MCM, Petronas Regulatory reporting (eg, IOM, ARPR, WPB).
  • Focal point for submitting all Corporate and Petronas quarterly, yearly field performance reports including BP, ARPR, WPB, and any adhoc reporting.
  • Provide technical leadership to the Petroleum Engineering team and Subsurface team as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:Knowledge:
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering e.g. Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum or Reservoir Engineering.
  • A Masters degree is an added advantage.
Experience:
  • 15+ years of relevant petroleum engineering experience in the Oil & Gas Sector.
Skills:
  • Understands basic petroleum engineering principles and techniques.
  • Software: Petroleum Experts (MBAL/Prosper/GAP/Eclipse/KAPPA/PVTp/OFM/Petrel)
  • Capable of data and document management; familiar with the use of production modelling tools (Gap, Prosper, OFM, etc); familiar with well completion techniques.
  • Good communication skills, analytical skills, good interpersonal and leadership skills.
