Job Description


The Senior Sales Engineer is primarily responsible for designing cost-effective integrated communications solutions in support of our regional Sales force. These solutions are tailored to customer requirements in the Energy, Enterprise & Emerging Markets (EEM), Cruise and Maritime industries. The candidate must possess in-depth technical knowledge and experience working with satellite communications.

Technical Sales Support

  • Develop detailed technical satellite and terrestrial communication solutions to meet customer requirements, including conducting satellite link budget analysis, IP networking design, and developing detailed bill of materials and network connectivity diagrams.
  • Lead and accountable for the technical response to customer enquiries which may come in the form of RFPs, RFIs, ITTs or direct enquiries.
  • Collaborate with Product Development personnel on providing requirements for new product and service offerings as needed.
  • Collaborate with Sales in responding to technical questions and conducting presentations as needed during the RFP/RFI bidding process to customers.
  • Attend customer meetings, seminars, and product demonstrations as needed in support of Sales.
  • Prepare cost models that consider Sales, Finance and Customer objectives.
  • Work in a cross-functional environment with Sales, Finance, Global Supply Chain, Network Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Project Management teams in the region.
  • Provide Post-sales assistance to Project Management/Service Delivery teams in handing over projects that are won.
  • Maintain technical relationship with the customer to aid sales in developing, growing, and supporting the customer.
Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Support division\'s strategy working with Sales, Business, and Product development staff and own technical solution development life-cycle.
  • Stay up-to-date with research and knowledge of telecommunication industry and applicable satellite and terrestrial communication technologies.
  • Provide creativeness in designing solutions, including any value-added services.
  • Communicate knowledge and product solutions clearly and effectively though face-to-face meetings and online presentations.
  • Provide technical mentorship to other Solutions Engineers as needed to increase team productivity.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor Engineering degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, or another related field.
  • Associate degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training or relevant work experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills required in English.
  • Five-years-plus (5+) relevant experience designing satellite communication / IP networking / Wireless communication solutions, Cyber Security
  • Hands-on experience working with fixed and maritime VSATs, IP data, voice/VoIP, WiFi networking is considered a plus.
  • An understanding of IP networking, SD-WAN, VOIP, QoS, Cyber Security and WAN optimization
  • At a minimum, three (3) years-plus preparing technical and commercial proposals for enterprise industry, preference for Energy and Maritime industry experience.
  • Practical experience in an IT/Networking environment and sound knowledge of voice and data networking; ideally certified (e.g. Cisco CCNA, CCNP)
  • Practical experience working and liaising with technical and non-technical staff across all levels or the organization
  • Working knowledge of satellite and/or telecommunications systems, including knowledge of products, and services (e.g., iDirect Evolution, Newtec Dialog, SES O3b, Cobham SeaTel, Intellian VSATs, among others.
  • Experience with Link budget software tools, such as Optimal Satcom ECM and Satmaster Pro.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Visio, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Dynamics)
