To learn more, visit .Overview of the roleSealed Air is seeking a driven individual to focus on developing new products for the packaging industry. This individual should have the ability to develop new material technologies (polymers & additives) and products and understand packaging materials, packaging systems, industry-standard test methods, and our customersxe2x80x99 operations. This individual must also be able to understand packaging materials interaction with the packaged consumer product. The qualified candidate will be responsible for using heightened curiosity to develop formulations, conduct fitness-for-use testing, communicate trial results, and make expert recommendations on a path forward to customers, their teams, and key stakeholders. In addition to the development of new packaging solutions, this role is tasked with supporting our business by training, troubleshooting, and communicating the performance of our solutions to both internal stakeholders and our customers. This individual will also be responsible for engaging with equipment and materials teams, field support, sales, customer service, and supply chain to ensure new and existing products continue to meet the high standards of Sealed Air Corporation.

• Work with I&D and business leaders to identify key material technology gaps and opportunities associated with business division innovation pipelines; execute a strategy to fill material technology gaps.
• Ensure the timely completion of material technology and product development projects with priorities established and agreed upon with I&D leadership.
• Develop and commercialize products in support of new business development opportunities.
• Position may require significant travel in support of Sealed Air production facilities.
• Effectively lead projects, ensuring the right technical resources are utilized and projects are completed in an agreed-upon timeframe.
• Collaborate with Sealed Airxe2x80x99s business divisions and other functional groups to achieve project objectives
• Identify and assess new material technologies relative to their viability, ability to drive business growth, and the resources required to fully develop and commercialize.
• Track and utilize knowledge of competitive activities related to material technologies.
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships in industry and academia relative to new material technologies.
• Evaluate new material and system designs through rigorous testing and an understanding of critical customer needs while working within a team environment to address real-world problems.
• Propose and implement strategic ideas that drive the enhancement of current product lines or the development of new product lines to drive increased profit based on a detailed understanding of materials, equipment, and customer operations.
• Stay at the forefront of technology to maintain competitiveness.
• Provide technical solutions to customers, external vendors, field representatives, and the broader Innovation & Development organization through on-site customer support and visits to other Sealed Air facilities.
• Collect and share feedback from internal and external customers to influence decisions that drive profitable changes within new and existing product offerings.
• Develop, design, and conduct test plans and field trials that validate the reliability of the equipment, materials, and their interactions to provide the most robust solution to our customers.
• Conduct root-cause analysis to produce high-quality results and provide technical documentation that enables data-driven business decisions.
• Create customer intimacy by utilizing soft skills, sales skills, and influencing techniques to drive collaboration that speeds up the implementation and growth of Sealed Airxe2x80x99s solutions.
• Lead technical teams to enable supply chain improvements to manufacturing processes and raw materials by quantifying the impact of these changes on the performance of the materials.
• Create value-propositions and competitive intelligence for Sealed Airxe2x80x99s developmental solutions driving credible project definition and scoping documents.
• Gather front-end intelligence on our customersxe2x80x99 needs to drive the next innovations for Sealed Air.
• Partner with the Materials & Process Engineering Team, the Sustainability Team, the Equipment Teams, Marketing, and Supply Chain to develop and transfer technologies regionally and globally.
• Work effectively within a matrix-managed organization.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S Polymer Science / Packaging Science / Chemical Engineering or related field and around 4-5 years of relevant plastic industry/packaging experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in extrusion, polymers, polymer chemistry, and materials science and their interactions with processes and customer use.
• Proven track record of identification and valuation of polymers and additives and translating ideas into significant commercial success.
• Knowledge of the food sciences/food production/process as it relates to packaging materials, equipment, and applications.
• Demonstrate ability to design, lead, and complete project work.
• Must be proficient in technical writing and oral communication.
• Effectively communicates verbally and in writing to affect decision-making and keep the organization informed (English proficiency is a must); ability to author technical reports and make presentations to various internal groups.
• Able to work globally with appropriate sensitivities to cultures, businesses, etc.
• Able to make priority decisions and provide clear focus to work teams.
• Establishes clear priorities and is enthusiastic about delivering accurate and timely results that add value.
• Committed to lifelong learning and continuous improvement.
• Able to interact effectively with and assist Product and Process Engineers, Customer Equipment Engineers, Sales, Marketing, and Customers.
• Ability to utilize statistics, proficient in Microsoft and/or Google Applications
• Willing to travel to Kuantan (To conduct the product trials/testing at the Kuantan facility depending on the project timeline, schedule & complexity of trials etc).
