Get to know the Team The supermarket business is a potential business department within Grab, responsible for both self-operated and third-party merchants. We use a microservice architecture in the backend, and the technology stack used in the frontend includes (iOS, ADR, Flutter and Web). We often do platform abstraction to support our new business requirements to go online faster. We follow the principle of an adaptive system, where the system can self-regulate according to different real-time feedback with minimal human intervention. Get to know the Role We are looking for a senior engineering manager to lead the GrabMart team in Malaysia. As part of the GrabMart supermarket engineering team, you will have opportunities to work on mission-critical self-serve web and mobile platforms, backend services, distributed datastores, analytics, big data pipelines, predictive capabilities via ML models, etc The Day-to-Day Activities Lead a team of managers and engineers across different tech stacks (mobile, web, and backend) to deliver highly scalable and available services and intuitive experiences for out users Partner with cross-functional leaders to build the product roadmap and set customer focussed metrics and robust experiment designs Lead bi-annually planning and build a smooth execution plan with the team for securing the delivery of product and engineering roadmap, you are the ultimate owner of the successful delivery and rollout of your roadmap. Drive company-wide engineering initiatives by collaborating effectively with senior leaders across the company by employing your mastery of technologies, communicating your ideas effectively and driving alignment with key stakeholders to create successful outcomes. Set the engineering strategy and engineering excellence metrics and targets for the team, and c onsistently raise the bar across testability, availability, security and code quality for your systems and modules Attract and retain talent senior engineering talent, actively mentor and develop engineering talent in the team and across Grab Keep your teams, org structure and staffing aligned with business needs and quickly pivot teams to changing needs The Must-Haves Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or commensurate experience and education. 6+ years of relevant engineering experience 3+ years people management experience or relevant leadership experience Understanding of all aspects of software engineering, including coding, architecture, algorithms, and data structures Experience with managing the day-to-day activities of an engineering team using Agile/Scrum processes Excellent judgment, organizational and problem solving skills: technical, project, and personnel Exceptional skill in technical communication with peers and non-technical cohorts Preferred Success delivering products/services in a high-growth environment, exhibiting strong ability to identify and solve ambiguous customer-focused problems High attention to detail with proven ability to juggle multiple, competing priorities simultaneously and make things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Excellent interpersonal skills ability to work successfully with teams across the organization, including Engineering, Program Management, Quality Assurance, and Senior Leadership Deep understanding of delivery and retail busine ss Our Commitment We recognize that with these individual attributes come different workplace challenges, and we will work with Grabbers to address them in our journey towards creating inclusion at Grab for all Grabbers.
