About this role
The focus of this role as a Senior Climate Services and Sustainability Consultant will be joining the sustainability strategy team within our Advisory, Planning and Design team in the Kuala Lumpur office. You will be a key member of the sustainability team that brings industry experience and expertise delivering sustainability strategy projects for a range of clients. Project delivery is an important function of this role and will require excellent project management skills along with technical depth in sustainability. A central aspect of the role will involve capacity building within Arup on sustainability. Although based in Kuala Lumpur, the role will involve business development and project delivery across Southeast Asia.

What will I do?

  • Work as part of a team across Advisory, Planning and Design, with a focus on sustainability, manage and support the delivery of high-quality Infrastructure Sustainability ratings for a variety of projects.
  • Be an inclusive leader, with the ability to communicate sustainability to diverse audiences and act as a subject matter expert.
  • Build and lead diverse and inclusive project teams, authoring or reviewing technical reports spanning a variety of areas related to sustainability.
  • Through collaboration with the sustainability leadership team, develop an approach to business development, pipeline planning and growth for the team.
  • Collaborate and engage with our engineering teams to continuously improve Arup\xe2\x80\x99s approach to integrating sustainability initiatives and outcomes on our projects.
What will I bring?
  • Recognized relevant tertiary qualifications (preferably at master\xe2\x80\x99s degree level) in science, engineering, sustainable development, finance, economics, public policy or similar area with at least 10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience that includes of 4-6 years relevant industry experience in sustainability specifically. Experience in strategy, economic or public policy consulting is highly desirable.
  • Strong technical, analytical and project management skills, with experience in delivering sustainability strategy projects. This could range from topics including decarbonisation, climate resilience, broader resilience, circular economy, biodiversity, social value and planetary boundaries.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in greenhouse gas accounting, climate risk assessments, sustainability frameworks and reporting standards such as the GPC Protocol, TCFD, SBTi, GRI, SASB, TCFD and UN SDGs. Qualification as an accredited professional in the use of these frameworks and reporting standards or equivalent would be an advantage.
  • A broad understanding the sustainability policy landscape in Malaysia and other countries in Southeast Asia.
  • Experience with capacity building, skills development and knowledge management across team members with varying years of experience; Business development skills with experience in engaging new and existing clients on sustainability or ESG, managing and coordinating proposals and service development.
