One of the leading international financial institutions is seeking a high-calibre Senior/Legal Counsel, Regulatory Affairs, Group Legal to join their Regulatory Affairs, Group Legal banking team based in Kuala Lumpur. About the Senior/Legal Counsel, Regulatory Affairs, Group Legal Role:
Reporting to the Head, Legal Corporate Functions, you will be responsible for providing world-class functional banking legal services to the bank\xe2\x80\x99s legal and corporate functions as well as be involved in interactions with all levels of management. Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and industry standards applicable to a financial services holding company and its group of companies (\xe2\x80\x9cGroup\xe2\x80\x9d)
• Advise, plan, implement and monitor group-wide strategic initiatives related to legal and regulatory compliance with relevant business units
• Monitor and advise the group on the risk and impact of legal issues in relation to all new/amendment to relevant legislations, regulations, directives issued by regulators, governmental and governing bodies relating to the financial services industry
• Monitor and advise the group on the risk and impact of legal issues in relation to non-financial services (e.g. data privacy laws, anti-bribery and corruption laws, competition law, etc.)
• Advise on specific areas i.e environmental, social and governance regulations/practices
• Draft and review policies, procedures, guidance notes, terms and conditions, agreements and all other relevant documents, corporate exercises and engagement of services where required for the implementation of new or changes to laws, legislations and regulations involving the group

This successful candidate must be highly organisational and independent, able to manage diverse stakeholders and work under pressure in a dynamic environment and with at least five to six years of PQE. Key Requirements:

• Minimum of five to six years of PQE with a law firm and/or in-house counsel preferably with a financial institution with experience in banking and finance regulations
• Experience in conveyancing, corporate laws and drafting and negotiations of agreements and contracts
• Practice in regulatory compliance and environment, social and governance areas particularly in the banking and financial sector is an advantage
• Experience advising on day-to-day legal matters related to banking and finance matters e.g. retail banking, procurement, banking operations
