Support resistance welding systems:
weld controller settings, current monitoring, timing, electrode force and water-cooling checks
common issues like unstable current, overheating, water leak causing short, diode/SCR/IGBT failure symptoms
Perform
Execute PM schedule and standard checklists (cooling system, cables, connectors, insulation, grounding, clamps).
Carry out measurements: basic electrical tests, clamp meter readings, insulation tests (if trained), continuity checks.
Support weld quality consistency through parameter verification and periodic inspection.
3) Installation, Commissioning & Training
Assist installation and commissioning of new machines/controllers at customer sites.
Run functional tests and verify safety compliance.
Train customer technicians/operators on daily checks, correct operation, and basic troubleshooting.
4) Service Reporting & Documentation
Prepare service reports with
problem description, actions taken, parts replaced, readings, recommendations
.
Maintain clear service history for each machine (important for ROI and upgrade proposals).
Escalate recurring issues with evidence (photos, readings, error codes, event logs).
5) Parts & Tools Management
Identify required spare parts and coordinate ordering with admin/store.
Maintain service tools (multimeter, clamp meter, laptop cables, hand tools) in good condition.
Follow company SOP for parts return / warranty / old-part tagging.
6) Team Support & Continuous Improvement
Share troubleshooting knowledge internally (common failures, best practice).
Support internal refurbishment jobs in workshop when not on-site.
Suggest improvements to standard PM checklist and service SOP.
Job RequirementsEducation
Diploma / Degree in
Mechatronics, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Automation, Instrumentation, or equivalent
.
Experience
1-3 years
hands-on service/maintenance experience in industrial environment preferred.
Fresh graduates can be considered if strong practical skill + good attitude.
Required Technical Skills (Must Have)
(AC/DC inverter/AC inverter), welding transformers, secondary circuits
PLC basics: Mitsubishi / Omron / Siemens (basic I/O checking, online monitoring)
Servo/drive troubleshooting basics
Robotics peripheral knowledge (IO handshaking, safety circuits, basic teach pendant awareness)
Able to use laptop software tools for controller logs / parameter backup (where applicable).
Valid driving license, comfortable traveling to customer sites.
Soft Skills (Important for TSM)
Strong communication: can explain technical issues clearly to customer maintenance teams.
Customer-first mindset, calm under pressure for urgent breakdowns.
Good teamwork + willing to learn fast.
Good discipline: punctuality, reporting, responsibility.
Work Conditions
Field-based, factory environment (heat, noise, PPE required).
May require
after-hours support
for urgent breakdowns (with OT/allowance per company policy).
Travel within Malaysia; occasional outstation.
