Job Summary:

The Site Engineer will oversee and coordinate all on-site activities construction under government infrastructure projects. The role demands strict adherence to public sector norms, technical specifications and compliance with quality, safety and environmental regulations. The Site Supervisor will act as the on-site representative of the department or appointed contractor, ensuring smooth progress and reporting to senior engineers.

Supervise and monitor daily site operation to ensure work is carried out according to project plan and specifications. Coordinate with subcontractors, consultants and suppliers to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of materials. Prepare, review and update site reports, progress records and documentation required for project tracking. Ensure that all construction works comply with safety regulations, quality standards and company policies. Assist in project planning, scheduling and progress monitoring to achieve project milestones. Conduct sites inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with design and technical requirements. Identify and resolve technical issues or discrepancies encountered during constructions. Monitor and verify quantities, material usage and workmanship to prevent wastage and ensure cost effieciency. Liase with the project manager and consultants regarding technical drawings, changes, and progress updates. Assist in preparing site-related documents such as method statements, request for inspection and as built drawings

Requirements:

1) Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.

2) Minimum 5 years of experience in construction industry.

3) Familiarity with public procurement processes, contractor billing and site-level documentation.

4) Experience in dealing with public audits and RTI-compliance desirable.

Key Skills:

1) Strong technical supervision and coordination skills.

2) Knowledge of public works procedures and documentation.

3) Effective communication with stakeholders including contractors, local authorities and government officials.

4) Competence in using levelling instruments, AutoCAD and MS Excel for documentation.

5) Understanding of labour laws, safety norms (including IS codes) and environmental clearances.

Working Conditions:

Requires availability beyond standard hours during key construction phases. Adherence to government dress code, conduct and safety protocols is mandatory. Frequent liaison with project consultants, district engineers and higher departmental officers.
