Requirements

  • Possess a Diploma in Special Education or a related field.
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills to create a positive and structured learning environment.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Display patience and understanding when working with students who have diverse learning needs and behavioral challenges.
  • Apply behavior management techniques to support students in developing appropriate social skills and self-regulation.
  • Utilize knowledge of special education principles and practices to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet individual student needs.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in responding to changing student needs and classroom dynamics.
  • Proficiency in both English and Bahasa Malaysia is required to effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs, in collaboration with parents, administrators, and support staff.
  • Adapt and modify curriculum and instructional materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities, ensuring accessibility and engagement.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and assistive technologies to support students' learning and promote their academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in both individual and small group settings, focusing on specific skill development and remediation.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, using formal and informal assessments to track growth and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively, implementing positive behavior support strategies and interventions to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, providing updates, addressing concerns, and collaborating on strategies to support learning at home.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, including IEP goals, assessment data, and anecdotal observations.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as therapists, counselors, and psychologists, to provide comprehensive support services to students with special needs.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current on best practices in special education and enhance teaching skills.
