BASF (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd was incorporated in 1989, and operates main office in Bandar Utama and a manufacturing plant in Pasir Gudang in Johor, as well as an operational site in Kulim, Kedah. BASF Asia-Pacific Service Centre Sdn Bhd began its operation in 2005. Located in Kuala Lumpur, the Shared Services Center provides functional services in the areas of finance, controlling, information services, human resources, environment, health & safety, procurement and import-export order management to BASF Group companies in 19 markets across Asia Pacific. BASF Services (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, established in 1997, provides infrastructure and utilities support services to BASF sites in Malaysia. BASF holds 60% of its joint venture BASF PETRONAS Chemicals Sdn Bhd, which operates a state-of-the-art Verbund production site in the Gebeng Industrial Zone, Pahang, and 50% of Toray BASF PBT Resin Sdn Bhd. Objectives

• Implement Plant EHS & Plant strategy in ensuring legal compliance, corporate conformance and continuous improvement in EHS performance
• Internal reports to Plant Manager
• Performs day-to-day consolidated operational EHS tasks
• Establishes and maintain plant EHS requirements

Main Tasks * Lead & guide the implementation of EHS guidelines and compliance check directly connected with plant daily work. (E.g. Safety incident root cause analyses, work permits, TDS, etc.)

• 5S champion in 5S implementation.

• Coordinate review meeting with MOC Committee.
• Assists initiator for timely completion, implementation, and closure of a change.
• Ensures proper documentation pertaining to the MOC.
• AIMs coordinator

• Monitor completion status of investigation and completion of action items
• Provide status of completion rate to HOD, plant manager and during monthly EHS Meeting."
• Maintain and update

• Chemical Register
• SDS Register
• Workplace Specific Procedure (short SDS)
• Lead & coordinate the Safety Report Card (SRC) consolidating the reports and follow-up with review with area owner to assigning control measures.
• Lead & participate in conducting Plant/ Operation Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) and Environmental Assessment & Significant Impact (EASI).
• Collect and provide plant internal operation information such as emissions data, energy usage, etc. to site functional EHS for RC Database reporting.
• Manage Schedule Waste label inventory including checking and coaching for compliance. JD EHS-PDP Senior Executive
• Collect and provide required reporting to RBU functional EHS.
• Support Functional EHS to organize safety promotional activities such Global Safety Day (GSD) and Global Health Campaign.
• Perform plant specific

• Safety awareness activities such as monthly safety briefing to various departments.
• Safety training such as Safety Induction Training (SIC) and Hazard Communication.
• Maintain safety records such as training records (according to training matrix defined by functional EHS) which includes training certifications or attendance records and individual employee training records & ensure appropriate trainings required for the site employees are completed.
• Coordinate employee\'s health screening according to occupational health surveillance requirements and ensure all required employees undergo the screening.
• Implement EHS related maintenance program

• Perform monthly monitoring and measurement of LEV (Local Exhaust Ventilation)
• Legal requirement compliance
• Inspection of safety equipment such as safety showers/eyewash, first aid boxes, spill kits and check condition of emergency response kit. - Procure and maintain inventory of personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure availability as & when required.
• Identify safety improvement ideas and take lead in safety improvement project as assigned.
• Support plant management and join site functional EHS to carrying out inspection and audit to comply with BASF and legal requirement.
• Legal licensing and permit : Support in providing information as needed. For example, types of waste generated, LEV monitoring results, etc.
• Responsible for the operation of pre-waste water treatment facility (if any) and conducting Waste Water Risk Analysis (WWRA) concept.

Minimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position

• Bachelor degree in EHS, Science, Engineering, Production, Chemical or equivalent with at least 2 years working experience. Or Diploma in EHS, Science, Engineering, Production, Chemical or equivalent with at least 5 years working experience.
• A leadership experience would be an advantage.
• Proficiency in English.
• Technical & Professional Knowledge: Excellent communication and management skill, familiar with local legislation system and legal requirements in EHS. Must have good understanding of scope and function of EHS units.
