About the opportunityWe are looking for a Public Affairs Specialist to be based in Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur, who is able to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, regulatory bodies, and community organizations. This role will be reporting to the Head, Public Affairs, in the Public Affairs & Public Relations department.

  • Build, organize, and manage a network of relevant stakeholders across ecosystem and industry partners (including the Malaysian government, international organizations, academia, non-profit, and private sectors).
  • Establish, coordinate, and execute key partnerships with relevant stakeholders, working together with other teams to advance business and public affairs objectives.
  • Coordinate government relations engagement with the Territories teams in terms of strategic engagement with state and local policymakers and stakeholders.
  • Establish good networks and relationships with Federal, State, Local Councils, and Government Agencies to advocate, negotiate, or defend positions and potentially open doors for commercial opportunities.
  • Advise Management of changes in the Government regulatory front, which may significantly impact foodpanda and the industry.
  • Emerge as the company\'s single point of contact and negotiator for all Government engagements.
What you need to be successful
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Law, Logistics, Business, International Relations, Political Science, Communication, Marketing Communication, or any other related discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in public relations, corporate communication, and government affairs.
  • Preferably some experience in people management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Strong networking, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive team player with an independently results-driven character.
  • Sound knowledge of the workings of government and parliamentary procedure, along with good political nous.
  • Understanding of the external political environment and political developments as they affect the College.
  • Track record of influencing stakeholders and understanding the opportunities and risks of working collaboratively with other stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing and implementing effective public affairs strategies.
  • You are very proactive and could lead independent projects.
  • You are an \'out-of-the-box\' thinker and want to constantly challenge the status quo.
  • Background in fast-paced, entrepreneurial, startup/tech environments preferred.
  • Fluency in English (our corporate language) and great communication skills.
