The Role:

Moderna Malaysia, based in Kuala Lumpur, is looking for a Senior Finance Manager. The ideal candidate works collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, while both navigating ambiguity, and driving results forward as we strive to achieve Moderna\xe2\x80\x99s mission to deliver on the promise of mRNA science to create a new generation of transformative medicines for patients.
The successful candidate will report to Director, Finance - South Korea & ASEAN Direct Markets and will play a critical role in building Moderna\xe2\x80\x99s presence in ASEAN Direct & Alliance markets right from the start.

Here\xe2\x80\x99s What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Do:
Financial Accounting & Control

Ensure accurate accounting records and timely transaction processing in close collaboration with the International Accounting function and the Moderna International Business Services Center

Review trial balance and prepare monthly accrual and adjusting journal entries as required

Prepare balance sheet reconciliations with proper supporting documentation

Maintain fixed assets register including work in progress for both accounting and tax purposes

Review, confirm and reconcile related party (intercompany) transactions

Lead and manage the annual statutory audit process with external auditors

Support local SOX control testing and internal audits

Monitor internal controls and report any changes to processes

Support the HoF with implementation of remediation plans for control deficiencies

Identify and drive process improvements in financial processes and systems

Provide technical accounting advice to ensure staff act consistently within key financial governance policies

Tax and Treasury:
Partner with Moderna Tax function and external accounting firm to ensure compliance with all direct and indirect tax matters such as Income Tax, VAT/GST, Fringe Benefits, Duties etc.

Work with external accounting firm for the timely completion of all returns and filing obligations

Monitor monthly cash position and liaise with Moderna Treasury function and banking partner as necessary

Ensure all required company insurances are in place and current

Financial Planning & Analysis

Collaborate with functional business leaders in the preparation and review of quarterly forecasts, annual budgets and long range plans

Assist with the preparation of local capital budget and associated reporting and analysis

Preparation of management reports, KPI analysis and dashboards; analyzing and commenting on actual to budget performance drivers

Assist business functions with the financial costings and analysis for business cases and projects

Pro-actively monitor risk and opportunities and bring to the attention of Leadership Team

Here\xe2\x80\x99s What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Bring to the Table:
The successful candidate will ideally have direct Life Sciences/Pharmaceutical Industry experience or exposure through Big 4 service engagements. Knowledge or experience within a manufacturing environment would also be a significant plus. In addition, the successful candidate will have and demonstrate the following:

CPA/CA or equivalent qualification

8+ yrs of relevant finance experience

Advanced level Excel and PowerPoint

MS Power BI an advantage

Excellent verbal and written communication in English

Strong agility and business acumen to pivot between competing priorities

A continuous improvement mindset

High degree of initiative and self-motivation

Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

Strong eye for detail and ability to meet deadlines
