Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Provide antenatal care including health education, screenings, and monitoring of maternal and fetal well-being. Assist and support women during labor and delivery, ensuring safe and compassionate care. Monitor and assess labor progress; provide appropriate interventions and escalate when necessary. Deliver babies and provide immediate newborn care, including resuscitation if required. Offer postnatal care to mothers and newborns, including breastfeeding support, newborn assessments, and emotional support. Identify high-risk pregnancies and refer appropriately to obstetricians or other specialists. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all care provided. Participate in health education and promotion activities in the community or health facility. Adhere to clinical guidelines, protocols, and infection prevention and control measures. Administer medications and manage emergencies according to training and protocols. Collaborate effectively with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care. Support and mentor junior staff and student midwives if applicable. Participate in ongoing training, audits, and continuous professional development.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Diploma or Degree in Midwifery from a recognized institution. Valid license/registration with the relevant Nursing and Midwifery Council or regulatory body. Minimum of [insert years] years of relevant work experience (if applicable). Competency in maternal and newborn care, including normal and emergency delivery procedures.
