The Student Affairs Coordinator will be responsible for providing advice and assistance to students on academic progress, course pathway requirements, and course selection, schedule, and sequencing. They will also serve as the first point of contact for student advising through walk-in and scheduled appointments, email, phone, and video conferencing as relevant. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and assisting in safeguarding issues across all school programs and serve as a discipline leader to support the Deputy Principal and program Coordinators with student and community discipline issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver advice and assistance to students on academic progress, course pathway requirements, and course selection, schedule, and sequencing.
Serve as the first point of contact for student advising through walk-in and scheduled appointments, email, phone, and video conferencing as relevant.
Assist students with identifying, navigating, and accessing student resources and school services.
Manage and assist in safeguarding issues across all school programs.
Serve as a discipline leader and support the Deputy Principal and program Coordinators with student and community discipline issues.
Implement sound restorative practice when resolving student discipline concerns and issues.
Serve on the Discipline committee and advise on matters regarding discipline policy, training staff in restorative practices, and improving student behavior across all school programs.
Serve as lead administration liaison for student clubs and societies.
Liaise with student councils, clubs, and societies to facilitate and manage events and activities.
Serve as the first point of contact for student-led school events.
Assist students through the proposal process, reviews proposals, prepares proposals for approval by the Principal / Deputy Principal.
Facilitate school excursions from proposal to execution. Builds and maintains relationships with excursion locations and vendors. Assists new and existing teaching, admin, and support staff to carry out excursions.
Assist and support with new student orientation planning for all school programs.
Assist and support with the planning of graduation and progression events and other school-wide programs throughout the year.
Working with school coordinators and departments, manage school data and prepare for audits by relevant Ministries of Education.
Manage student achievement data, advise and assist with ongoing student performance issues.
Ensure compliance of campus organizations and students with Ministry of Education (MOE) rules, policies, procedures, and laws governing school functions.
Primary manager of main Student Affairs email inbox.
Reviews, assigns and coordinates student requests from the Student Affairs inbox to relevant staff members, arrange follow-ups and meeting appointments as necessary.
Develop and participate in staff development, including working on special programs as assigned, attending classes which will enhance expertise in job areas, serve on departmental and school-wide committees as appropriate, and participate in activities that enhance the school community and/or larger community to further school service.
Other task/function as assigned by the Principal - Sunway International School, or assigned representative.
Requirements:
Bachelor\'s degree in Education or a related field and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
At least 5 years of experience teaching and leading the Cambridge curriculum
Experience in a leadership role in an educational setting
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
