Professional, Full Time (Contract)Location: Miri, SarawakJob Type: Full Time (Contract)\xef\xbb\xbfThis position is responsible to design, plan and implement strategies and programs which contributes to student progression, transition, retention and provide relevant support towards the overall success of student progression journey within the University.The incumbent must understand and integrate perpectives held within different areas of the university and put plans in place to build collaboration, engagement programs that can foster a sense of belonging which can improve students transition to university life and will result in student progression.The incumbent is responsible to ensure that there are a range of initiatives for engaging with different student groups, collaborate with faculties and stakeholders throughout the academic year as well as the collection of feedback from the whole student body and its dissemination. they will also be in contact with other institutions, sharing and developing best practise in all their areas of work.Key ResponsibilitiesStudent engagement

  • Plan and implement engagement programs/activities within the university by collaborating with students, focussing on student transition and progression within the university.
  • Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to plan and implement a focussed engagement program that will deliver sustainable outcomes of student progression success within time constraints, cost and quality.
  • Build new and productive relationships and support programmes with a diverse range of students, internal and external stakeholders, or key and influential individuals to build confidence and foster a sense of belonging for them to progress and continue their university journey.

  • Provide advice on academic pathway and support on administrative aspects of student progression within the university.
  • Coordinate familiarisation and progression events/workshop at a specific and relevant times throughout the year embedded in university academic calendar by collaborating with faculties, schools, departments within the university, internal and external stakeholders in contributing to the success of student progression.

  • A degree from a recognised institution preferably in Education, Communication, Business Administration, Marketing or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing advice and guidance in a professional setting.
  • Demonstrated a high level of motivation to work with people, able to deal with customer enquiries in an effective and positive manner.
  • Strong organisational and event management skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize time and workload in order to meet deadlines and maintain control of multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated effective planning skills, including developing recruitment plan and monitoring recruitment budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communications skills (including presentation skills) with a wide variety of people and with cross cultural sensitivity.
  • Willing to travel extensively and work on flexible schedules and working hours.
Desirable
  • Experience working in an educational environment, preferably in an international higher education context.
